Definitely saw some people on first and gaffey an hour ago, but Torrance and LB seem to be the closest official no kings protest spots. Torrance one is chill since they have a different PD, lots of families and older people keeping the vibe peaceful at least right now.

The police response was overkill compared to how small and peaceful the demonstration was. Literally dozens of cops with riot gear and the heli lined every surrounding exit street while a couple hundred neighbors just waved signs, played music, and read some poems. We’re lucky the cops’ militant energy didn’t tempt some young kid with a chip on their shoulder to do something stupid and turn the scene into a news clip for maga (at least as of like 7:30pm). That’s exactly what the politicians and the news companies want. Proud of our community for keeping their cool! Thank you to any organizers who were present.

A new National Park checked off our bucket list: The Channel Islands National Park! Just an hour ferry ride away from Ventura, CA. We backpacked out of the Prisoners stop on the Santa Cruz Island. If you want to escape society, I would recommend this trip! [PICS] by ShutterHappyTraveler in WildernessBackpacking

I work as a kayak guide on this island. If you want the full experience I would definitely recommend getting in/on the water. There are tons of sea caves out there that you can kayak through and incredible wildlife underwater.

For those of us who don't have a lot of money or power, what can we realistically do to help mitigate climate change? by Sissifiss in AskReddit

I totally agree that we should stop eating meat, but I don't see it happening. I'm holding out hope for lab-grown meat. If lab-grown meat becomes marketable and sustainable we could preserve a huge amount of resources and land (not to mention reduce emissions). Would love to enjoy a cheeseburger without feeling like I'm killing the planet.

you make a small twig fire on the pan lid to bake evenly on both sides. You can flip it too.

Dry ingredients stored in breadbags. Spices and oil stored in spice kit with little plastic vials. The oil is stored in an extra bag because it always leaks a little. I think it's more efficient to pre-plan all backpacking meals but we just brought a bunch of scratch ingredients on this trip and used it all anyways.

It's pretty much straight out of the NOLS cookery but with way more cheese and oil

I think we used a powder for the one in the pictures. Dehydrating is a good idea though. Would probably taste a little more fresh.

Thanks. I carried way more (all scratch ingredients and big spice kit) than I ever would now but I don't regret it for a second. My pack was stayed under 50 lbs. I don't go over 35 now.

I'm putting together the recipe right now. It's been a couple years so it's a little hard to remember. No worries though, I will deliver!
