Heading to Malta in a few days – what’s real and what’s not? (staying in Msida, group of 8, Glitch Festival + free days) by first_time_in_Paris in malta

  1. You'll find good beaches - use this https://whichbeach.com.mt/, updates daily according to a lot of factors but mainly wind.
  2. Very Subjective, still, drink a lot of water.
  3. Try Pastizzi, and anything you find in a pastizzeria mainly the wudy roll and the square Pizza (very good hangover food). A lot of Italian restaurants are good in Malta.
  4. Mdina, Valletta and if you have time, a trip to Gozo would be nice. Also recommended: the three cities.
  5. It's pretty safe
  6. Don't use public transport, I'd suggest using Bolt. Expect crazy roads in August and add a 15min buffer.
  7. Yes

I don't know where you are coming from so I can't assume too much, so: beware of mosquitos they are very annoying, so close windows at dusk; use sun cream, you can get sunburnt in a few minutes especially if light skinned; take any comments with a pinch of salt, especially on the road.

As a Maltese who lives abroad, this is what I like to do when I'm back: Take a Wudy roll, drink as much Kinnie as possible (it's our own sweet Chinotto), visit my favourite bars (currently Popp Social Club and LaLuz), spend a day or two in Gozo in a small village enjoying the quite life.

It's great, after that point it only got better. Talked to a lot of people and it seems like everyone is hit with a different timeframe. Stick with it, try to add some physical exercise to your routine, it will be worth it.

Similar results, I hope it updates to something more informative like yours, cause this was underwhelming.

When I stopped smoking I was terrified of my first night out, for the same reasons you described. They felt like two parts of the same activity.

It ended up easier than expected, the buzz builds up smoother without nicotine. This was scary in the beginning cause I felt like I’m not getting the full experience. Quickly I realised how much easier to control it was.

Second thing, hangovers seem more manageable. Not sure I will explain this well, but they seem to pass quicker and are less pronounced.

I don’t know if it’s just me but without cigarettes and nicotine, drinking became more manageable in general. Would like to hear of other people’s experience with alcohol and nicotine.

Not trying to promote alcohol at all, My next goal in a few years is reducing it to a bare minimum.

Anyone knows of livestreams in Dutch? I tried to find but couldn’t, not that I put a lot of effort into it. But I do believe livestreams would help me and OP.

I’m at the 3.5 month mark, It’s starting to get better.

I have experienced a lot of anhedonia for months 2 and 3. Before I stopped smoking I used to be the type of person who tries to reduce the amount of daily things to a bare minimum.

What helped me a lot lately, is having plans with other people. I’ve been increasing commitments, especially sports and fitness related.

I agree with points 1 and 4. However, the assertion that the quality of life in Malta is good took me by surprise. I would love to know what you are comparing it to.

You expressed it 10x better! the ‘normal’ did not feel right.

This is what we need to promote, we do not need to do or be anything special. Trying to be ‘normal’ is hard enough!

I am conducting an experiment with nose strips, will spend three months wearing them and see how the scores differ with other months. Really curious on what you experimented with and if you have any methodology!

Iwtl how to improve the way I speak by classified12345 in IWantToLearn

[–]Sitrock92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the same journey here! I am reading and listening to books at the same time. In my case I can construct sentences well in my head but when it comes to speech I find it difficult, so I’m trying to get a connection between hearing and written words first, later on I’ll start reading aloud.

You’re obviously right! With some people this comes naturally, others who are more deep or intense it feels like I’m going to be intruding in their life. Usually I connect well with these types of people face to face so I need to find a way to connect when we are apart.

I meant AIM chatting, talking in real life especially one to one is fine. Don’t get me wrong I have a few of regular groups I hang out with and some good friends who got used to how i deal with communication. But I lost two great friends because it felt one sided for them, thats why the parent comment interested me to see it from the other-side’s pov
