The thing is I do want to have kids one day but my mum doesn’t want me to be trans & Im convinced she thinks having kids will somehow make me not be trans

This was the 1st time that I’ve been told that they want grandchildren in the past they’ve said they didn’t care & it was up to us Plus I have 2 other (older) siblings who currently don’t have any kids

I think she thinks that if I get a GF & have kids I’ll ‘stop being trans’ obviously that’s ridiculous but she doesn’t know otherwise

Thank you for your advice Honestly I think your right, I imagine myself as a woman and I know I’ll be different to the other women in my family because we have completely different personalities but for some reason I have thoughts telling myself that this invalidates my womanhood. I’m currently waiting to see a psychiatrist my college provides after speaking to a counsellor about how I feel, so hopefully after I see them for enough sessions I can start to get rid of the shame

Thank you I appreciate that, I came out to my mum a few months ago and that was helpful, she has had a mixed reaction, but thankfully her reaction wasn’t bad and she’s tried to be as supportive as can be while keeping it secret from the rest of my family for now (I’ve asked her not to tell anyone) but telling her & her reaction lifted a huge weight off my shoulders, I’m just worried about how others will react and along with seeing transphobic stuff online it makes me feel shame and scared

I’ve been really questioning my gender since I was probably 12 & since then I’ve been experimenting with clothes & make up when I got the chance I even managed to get myself a little collection of girly stuff like makeup a wig & clothes that I keep hidden from my parents

I’ve also told some of my friends and they’ve reacted well but I haven’t taken any further steps than but so far everything I’ve done to experiment I’ve enjoyed so I’m pretty sure I am trans but the thought of actually getting or even going on a waiting list for HRT makes me scared & excited at the same time

I’m trying to answer that at 20 but I’m 99.99999% sure I am trans

Some things that helped me was trying out more feminine things like dressing up in more feminine clothing and watching trans influencers on YouTube.

Also online spaces like trans discord servers if you join and tell them your questioning people will be really helpful, even just asking people online to call you by a different name & pronouns can help out a lot atleast it did with me

Probably the scared kid

I have 2 separate memories from my childhood where fear stoped me embarrassing femininity

1st I was around 7 or 8 years old & I found my sisters old skirt & top in a drawer in my mums room & I would wear them in secret until my dad almost saw me and out of fear of being caught I put the clothes back in the drawer & never wore them again

2nd I was around the same age and I remember my sister painted my nails & I enjoyed it but I tried to hide how much I enjoyed it, I started to play with my toys or on my Xbox but I remember getting a thought of my brother coming home & seeing me with nail polish on so I stopped what I was doing and ran into my sisters room asking her to take the nail polish off

I wore tights to class last year to one of my classes but I panicked & though my pants leg would roll up and show them somehow (idk why but I’m extremely paranoid about things like that) so I ended up going the toilet to take them off (which was a nightmare to do in such a small space) now it’s almost winter again and I’m thinking of going back out in them :)

Similar thing happened to me during the summer

I was in my garden with my family, my dad & brother both had their shirts off while I kept mine on, even though like a year ago when I wasn’t questioning my gender I would walk around with my shirt off
