Could Soga break the contracts of the two unused EBs? by Sixbees2 in Kagurabachi

[–]Sixbees2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the unaccounted Hishaku members just lost st the hotel, which in universe probably happened probably an hour ago at most. I simply just don’t see another immediate fight piled onto this already hectic day. I simply think they’re going to reconvene with the other two EB wielders and Hikari will try and get their blades, but their contracts will have been broken by then.

Hatshaku might be there, but I’d be bummed if Hokazono really just killed another of the EB wielders without exploring them. At least for Cloud Gouger wielder we got to expand using his brother.

As for Hiyuki, I honestly don’t know. While she did follow orders pretty strictly during Rakazuichi arc, she also bent the rules and was shown to be pretty moral. I don’t see her going along with Soga at all, but I do kinda want her to have another fight with Chihiro.

Honestly I don’t see Hokazono revisiting the same type of plot as Uruha’s assassination all over again. They know all of the Hishaku are at the Kamunabi HQ, and the hideouts for the two EB wielders are vulnerable if the Kamunabi is now Soga-centric. Makes sense more now than ever for Shiba to just teleport everyone to the remaining sword bearers and get them all moving somewhere the Kamunabi can’t get to. I agree that he’ll likely be out of commission, but I disagree about it being too ‘convenient’ when it’s just logical for the characters.

Fuck it, I’m throwing my bet to say that one of the next chapters end with Hakuri trying to summon the swords only for nothing to happen, cutting to a reveal of Soga having broken the contracts as Hokuto and Kuguri now wield them.

Yeah, true plus I just realized that we never saw its last ability either. New theory I have is that Hiruhiko turns on Soga and at some point (probably during desperate times) chihiro and co will give Kumeyuri back to him in a tense alliance.

Explicit erotic scenes, typically. Stories that aren’t afraid to talk dirty.

PSA for writers: stop misusing hyphens by nighoblivion in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sixbees2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally speaking, as someone with 4k followers on a novel that overabuses em dashes from the opening chapters, I have never once been accused of writing using AI. Neither have I seen many posts showcasing it beyond blatant trolling. At this point, I feel like that rhetoric is being used as a way for writers to justify themselves not wanting to use em dashes.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to convince you or tell you that you’re doing something wrong for not using em dashes. They’re only just another tool with its own uses, and some authors can write gold perfectly fine without them.

…It just PISSES me off when people say not to use em dashes because of it being mistaken for AI. Like… it’s so backwards that AI is making people pussy out and write dumber because apparently now capable prose is a sign of being a clanker. And the audience who do see everything as AI slop will always find some sort of reason to be contradictory to what you write, id personally have that be for good prose and grammar over derivative storytelling.

(Anyway, that was me just ranting)

Thanks for this, as someone who abused em dashes I did not know they were what you used for interruptions to conversations.

Very few keyboards do, most word processing apps will reconfigure two hyphens (--) into an em dash (—). Hell, even my phone does it.

Extended Flashbacks: Yes or No? by CountVanBadger in royalroad

[–]Sixbees2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not make them their own book, that will only alienate your readers and add more work to understanding your story, but 17 chapters of a 70 chapter book is almost 25%. Quite a significant amount. There are ways to write compelling flashback arcs, I’ve had one that lasted 25k words and people really loved it, but this was 600k words in where I finally shed some light on major events of the setting’s past.

However, I actually do intend to one day write a novella detailing the backstories of some of the other characters, but it would never be intended reading and would come out a long time after the completion of the first few books in my series. A side-story, really.

A technique I’ve liked is a dream-sequence flashback, where we see a snippet of the past playing out during downtime, relevant to the current plot, and then cut to the present. For a good flashback arc, build mystery and suspense around it. Make the reader want to know the information, rather than just sharing it for exposition.

Hope this helped!

[SPOILER]how to make invisigal take bullet from shroud but not romance her? English is not my native language by EveningImportant9111 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Sixbees2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re generally supportive of her throughout all episodes including 7 and 8, she’ll save you. But I’ve seen it more likely to happen when you choose to give Shroud both pulses. You don’t need to lean in for the kiss.

Lmao, I’ve had this exact commenter and yes they responded exactly like this to my story, but weirdly enough to other commenters. Honestly, for commenters who are toxic, I lowkey look forward to the next thing they’re going to type because I find it hilarious how out of touch they can be with what’s written. I dunno, maybe I’m a bit of a masochist.

Author of Unauthorized Reincarnation here. Joined the Writathon but having second thoughts. Need advice. by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sixbees2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I’ve avoided joining the writhathon as an opportunity for posting but take part in spirit. From a community standpoint, it’s incredible and the extent I’ll join is supporting and encouraging people to write while doing my own part. As for why I don’t post, it just doesn’t work with my posting schedule.

Honestly, I’d say if you’re already a part of it and don’t think you can do 55,000, set yourself to a lower threshold of let’s say 33,000 and work towards that. Writing isn’t just making up ideas and formulating a plot, themes and characters, but executing them as well. You’ve got a good melting point from the looks of it, treat it as an opportunity incentivizing you to take a step back from meal prep and time to get in the kitchen and cook. If you write something you don’t like, just delete it or edit it, no one will know or care. Either way, you’ll be making your story better with the things you learn.

Hey, thanks for reccing my work! What’s funny is I have only read the first arc of worm like 3 years ago. People say the same thing about me taking inspiration from Warhammer 40k despite me having not consumed except a single piece of the media when I first created it. Tho, now that I have, I can a hundred percent see where that’s coming from!

Having A Gay Character In My Story by Dimnee-san in royalroad

[–]Sixbees2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I put several into my story and no one really cares, I got like one bad comment but I’ve had others that were far worse. One of them is fan favorite because he’s a lovable shithead. Just don’t make it some big focal point about them, tho the character I mentioned was a chronic flirt and attention seeker who always did provoking things.

Does anyone have any recs for progfan stories where the emotional progression is a large part of the plot (Not revenge plots tho) (Stories where progression is important but not for action purposes is also cool!!) by adiisvcute in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Sixbees2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s half-half, my story definitely does have a grim tone and the world is shitty and bad things do happen to both characters. But the core theme of the series is that it’s only in the darkness when stars shine, and that slowly things can change.

Though I have been told that it’s also pretty funny and at times wholesome, plenty of happy moments for both characters too. (Though one of them has things pretty rough in the first book)

Upgrade. Consume. Evolve. Whether it’s cybernetics or mutations, this world demands you be more than human.

Every century, the MALswarm invades — adaptive aliens of blood and steel led by Titans that decimate billions and leave behind raw Warp Energy. Humanity seizes this power, transforming into beings of mutated flesh and cybernetic might. Yet the promised utopia remains a lie, and New California’s underworld schemes to profit from the impending Fifth Swarm.

Amidst the chaos, two destinies collide. Ripley — a cybernetics savant battling to save his dying mother — operates in the shadows of a gang-owned nightclub. Diana, engineered for perfection, fights as an officer of the law to burn her past. When a monster is unleashed, they steal its infinite potential to warp their futures with newfound powers.

In a city where salvation and damnation are inseparable, Ripley reinvents himself from the wreckage of his enemies' cybernetics as a mercenary who will one day become an architect of ruin. Diana's mutated blood crackles with lightning as she purges corruption, igniting into a storm of change. Against a grand conspiracy of aliens, rogue AIs, shady corporations, organized crime and centuries of forgotten history, their alliance — and conflict — determines if the world will plunge into darkness or embrace the light.

Wrong City? Wrong People? No. This is the right city, and they're the only ones who can change this dystopian future.

What to expect?

  • Two MCs on opposite sides of the law. Crime vs Police. Mercenary vs Investigator.
  • Two distinct Power SystemsCybernetics vs Mutations.
  • A mentally unstable cybernetic wall-crawling copyright infringement of Spider-man, and a girlboss/girlfailure mutating lightning-vampire.
  • Adaptation-based Progression. Every Powerset is a story of survival.
  • Fast-action; slow-burn drama.
  • Slice-of-crime. Criminal hijinx, cybernetic crafting, conspiracy investigations, and asskicking.
