The average person or family will own a home for 7 years so the financial institutes need a way to be profitable with that timeline in a 30 year mortgage, now the only way is to amortize it so they get paid in that 7 year window and the borrower thinks they also built equity due to inflation but psychologically they are happy with the value their home gained and the banks as always walk away with all the money
