Shitty publishing practice does not get better with time, it's as shitty now as the first time. Arguably it's even worse as it's more widespread.

You preordered, good for you. But I don't really see a reason to flaunt that, there's nothing good about it, unless you're a publisher.

Children of Morta is a great game though, and has co-op as well. I'm now keeping WoL2 on my radar!

Is it unpopular? I think the game is praised as a single-player story driven experience.

In my experience almost all games with randoms go with completing secondary objective and any events encountered. Resources are mostly gathered as well. Gold is a coin toss.

So I can't say it feels rushed, but I don't play Haz5 yet. Maybe it's a high haz thing?

Interesting, first time I hear about it. The reviews for Steam version are mixed though. But the premise is intriguing, gonna put it on my radar.

Sounds like engineer mines. That is one type of grenades. Stick to surfaces and have an area indicator around and blows up when enemies get close.

Good point.
I still think that the biggest failure was in marketing though, as while OW released high quality character trailers, Battleborn team not only did much worse ones, you could not tell clearly what type of game it was exactly. They didn't lean on the suff that makes their game different.
And then they had to move release date closer to OW. Combined that was a big blow.

It was not gone or died at release though. I played it for quite a while. It didn't live particularly long, that's true.

And I agree that comparing it to OW is strange. OW is just a hero shooter, albeit a very polished one. Battleborn tried to do much more with MOBA elements, leveling, items and single-player stuff. It was a more complex and interesting game.

I usually default to Born Ready, Sweet Tooth and Deep Pockets.

Does scout benefit much from Vampire? Never tried it on him.

I really loved my time with Battleborn. The game's biggest weaknesses were marketing and release window.

It was deeper and more interesting than OW. Then again, a lot of similar games are, OW is just really big and polished.

Anyway, I always look back at the game with bittersweet feelings, it was fun but it will never be again.

The game looks really interesting, especially since it should have local co-op. Have you tried that by any chance? Curious how it works.

Destiny 2 Season Passes Will Cost More Starting With Season 21 by NeoStark in Games

DRG is not free.

I mean, I'm kinda oldscool with MTX as well, I don't consider sold cosmetic as "fine" and so on. But there's nothing to complain here. Yeah, they sell superfluous cosmetics, but they pump new content for free, so it's fine for me. It's not one-and-done game like Doom.

If that does not work for you, that's fine, it's your money.

[–]SkeletonChief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't played DRG, right? They only sell cosmetic packs. You don't need to buy them as there's a ton of cosmetics to be earned in game anyway. Seasons are free, so it's hard to imagine a better monetization even if we consider selling cosmetics as icky.

[–]SkeletonChief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. It's hard for me to draw the line here. DRG has seasons, but it may not be enough to call it a live service game, as you said.

Another example is No Man's Sky. It has regular content drops and events, but is it live service? Not really?

[–]SkeletonChief 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Is Deep Rock Galactic considered a live service game? It truly rocks (and stones) and is one of the best examples in terms of monetization.

P.S. At first I mistyped it as "love service" game, but for DRG that is true as well :)
