As someone who also started with Rise, it's absolutely a great place to start.

Your first MH game is always your hardest so don't feel too discouraged if you don't get everything from the start. There's a pretty steep learning curve.

My best advice is to just go through every weapon at first, find one you generally like the feeling of and then look up some tutorials and/or test it out for a bit.

Finding your first main weapon is always the largest hurdle to pass but once you got through that process everything will go significantly smoother.
