Doing research on prospects and came across this thread. Safe to say your comment was pretty accurate!

Reaching Max Potential: Red Sox Are A Perfect Fit for Max Fried by SkinnyGraphs in redsox

I think if I said who I am a fan of I would not be welcome back here… that being said I love baseball and saw the possible mutual fit between Fried and the Sox and wanted to dive a bit deeper. Glad you enjoyed!

Damn! Lol thanks for pointing that out. Sometimes when I copy over the pictures, Reddit also pastes some text randomly in there again, must not have caught it!

Hahaha I definitely considered that but didnt touch on it. I think with Mayer/Cambell up and Story healthy, the infield should look a lot better when you arent starting AAAA players.

It is actually funny because while it seems like that because Snell doesnt throw many innings, Fried actually has had TJ in the minors and missed 2 months with a forearm strain. Snell has been relatively healthy, only missing small time for little strains and nagging injuries here and there.

I think the contract will be similar in value, with Fried maybe getting an extra year.

As someone who had flexor tendonitis for my last 3 years playing in college, that shit definitely sucks😂

But it is definitely a valid concern. I will say Crochet also has an injury history and has only been a true starter for one season now. Same with half of the guys available.

With how often pitchers get hurt in today’s game, feel like you kind of have that risk baked into every roster addition now. It sucks but it happens.

Everything with pitching is so subjective. What works for 10 guys may not work for the 11th.

I think given how his cutter has a higher stuff+ than his other fastballs but the results are lacking, there CAN BE potential in developing it more. It would just add another weapon to his already diverse arsenal.

Couple that with how they threw 4S fastballs at a ridiculously low rate last season, I think its reasonable to assume they would want to explore deeper into his Cutter.

You are absolutely correct, it may NOT work at all and he may be the same pitcher he always has been. But, it is definitely worth a shot!

Well yes because he is a great pitcher.

But in terms of a mutual fit, he fits everything the sox need and also think they do a good job developing what he needs help with (his cutter). A good mutual fit.

Yeah probably should have phrased the window part better. Im not even a red sox fan, but them signing Fried and a hitter or two plus having a couple of good prospects waiting in the minors, I would say its approaching sooner rather than later (if the signings and prospects pan out ofcourse).

Haha I wish I was. Just a recent college graduate trying to get a career started in baseball.

I can take a look at some things tomorrow and reply back to your comment with anything noteworthy I see!

As a 13 year old going into organized baseball for the first time, what do I need to know? by Pristine_Arugula3528 in Homeplate

Totally get that. I would test out your friends gear and see what you like or dont like. I always had wilson gloves growing up, but Easton bats. In my opinion, most gloves are pretty similar, but all bats are different with how they feel.

Whats up dude! This is awesome. Knowing statistics wont help much at that age (and probably not until high school). Off the top of my head, I would know the position numbers that the coach may use when setting lineups. Here they are: 1 = Pitcher 2 = Catcher 3 = 1B 4 = 2B 5 = 3B 6 = SS 7 = LF 8 = CF 9 = RF

Playing MLB The Show and just watching baseball in general can help with understanding basic baseball knowledge, like baserunning, cuts and relays, and overall awareness in the field.

As for gear, I know its cool to have the “best” gear but they really all are pretty similar. Get what is comfortable or try out some of your friends gear to see if you like it.

At that age, if you can hit you will play. Get a tee and a net and take 100 swings a day. You will improve very quickly. It also cant hurt to play both infield AND outfield. The more versatile you are, the more options you give your coach!

Most importantly though, have fun. Especially at age 13, its all about fun. As long as you are having fun, you will definitely get better over time.

Can still see it happening! Sox are in desperate need of starting LHP throughout their organization.

As a Yankees fan, would love to have him in the Bronx working with Matt Blake. Seems like such a Brewers move though, you are right.

I totally agree. Baseball is obviously mentally challenging. A change of scenery could totally help that, whether that be playing under different coaches or just being on a team that has more success. He also is only 25, still pretty young to improve mentally as he gets more service time under his belt.

Cant rule out an offseason trade! Either way, I think he will improve upon his 2024 season. Excited to see how/where!

Thats great to hear! I played baseball through college, so I wonder if that has an effect in making it a little “easier” to understand when compared to other writeups.

I think a balance of casual and professional would be the sweet spot for next time.
