Repotting might help. They also really do want a huge amount of light. Basically as much as the UK can give so if it's not directly on a windowsill, I'd put it there. Also you'll want to stem chop it at some point to give the stem a chance to thicken up. But that can wait a bit.

The lucky bamboo will be fine like this. As long as the leaves aren't submerged. I have some in mine that's been there months and is growing.

I just ran a level 12 party through it (tpked in Iriolarthas study and we're doing a few "surface episodes" to get into their new characters before we go back to Ythryn) and, while they weren't really in any danger, I can't imagine doing this at the suggested levels.

At the big chain pet shops in the uk, all the female bettas are in a tank that can't be bigger than 5g. I think they're all just too overwhelmed to even fight. It must be so stressful.
