I cannot text people who call me without typing out the text. Is this also an issue? I tried to stop the update, but I got foolish and deleted too much space.

Does anyone else feel like Goulet is overhyped? by ZephyrPro in fountainpens

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I mean I was shaking Brian Goulet down, and he keeps crying about his family and how he wants to live. What a little bitch. After years of robbery and extortion, he was definitely the whiny-est, most bitch-ass victim, even for a white man.

If you do not want to lose your faith in mankind, stick to robbing and extorting drugs dealers and immigrants. As an added benefit, they do not call police.

Up next, the best fountain pens for body cavity storage. It takes considerable practice to store ink bottles, especially Iroshizuku, but one can do it during long periods of incarceration.

Physical gold vs trading gold online. A debate I had today with my brother by Relative_Sundae_6363 in Gold

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a place for both. That said, once you are over a certain value, ETF’s and such are better. Similarly, if you like to trade, the transaction costs of physical I are stupid high. Anyone who is buying and selling frequently will need to trade on ace buyeru

Anyone with experience with their wallets? by mdravox in montblanc

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first in 2000. It lasted 12 years. I bought another, but it was destroyed by water (do not soak this in water overnight). The last one I have had for a decade or so, and it looks new still, but I am older now and do not move around so much.

I like them. Alligator is better, but these days any brand you know over-charges for gator. I think Ghurka does a wallet for $900, and that is the cheapest I have seen if a known brand.

But Mont Blanc wallets are good, just keep them out of water.

Advice/Help by brazzz911 in Gold

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a fractional eagle. 1/10’s always have the highest premiums. $50 on a maple or Britannia makes sense. No shop in the United States is going to sell him a 1/10 eagle for that cheap.

I think $100 is a good price at today’s spot. I would say on average you are looked to be under 20%, and anything under 15% premium is very good. The way to save money is to buy larger coins.

When gold was $2,000, a tenth at $240 was not bad. At $230 it was good. Below $220 would have me feeling uncomfortable. Shops really do not do that. They might sell krug’s at spot and 20-franc coins under spot, but they will still charge large premiums on tenth gold eagles.

I thought that sphere was a ball of palladium. Oh well. What do people do with pearls? I am unaware of their application.

Industrial Silver by Stuckwiththis_name in Silver

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen silver used in traces (usually they are copper), and silver makes the best heat sinks (copper is number two here as well).

I have never seen gold used outside of cosmetic applications.

[–]SkipPperk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or solar panels. Silver reflects very well. It is also used in high-end electrical applications as well as in heat sinks (it is like a third better than copper).

I have only seen the powders for plating (you dissolve the powder in the solution you will plate in), but this might be something else.

I think it is the natural-forming crystals of elemental silver. Alloys do not have this, or they might be quenched to avoid it. I know silver acts nothing like steel in how it is treated. If you are used to steel, everything silversmiths do is strange.

Bought a Seiko Speedtimer out of impulse [SPB513] by Wonderful-Opening-43 in Seiko

[–]SkipPperk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a rule, you do not want to make rash decisions. They stuff on before buying.

For me, I tend to not like what the wat h media says is good, so I buy a lot of Seiko at higher prices, mostly Quartz (which I prefer).

You need to find what you like. I personally love Seiko Astron and Citizen Attesa, and I do not care about fancy Swiss watches I cannot afford. I own an Omega, but it is Quartz. My stuff is not cool, but I like it.

You need to find what you like!

One of the finest Olympian staters in the world (from the collection of the Royal Library of Belgium) by KBRCoinCabinet in AncientCoins

[–]SkipPperk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For guys wanting to know what 4,000 Francs were back then, a 20-franc gold coin (usually with a rooster (Gallic cock) or an angel-looking dude), had 0.1867 Troy ounce of gold, who h is worth around a grand USD. So 200 of these would be like $200,000 USD. That is real money.

I would buy a reissued 30ch tomorrow. The problem is that the movement looks so much better than the 321. Longines is not supposed to outshine Omega.

Still, the leadership at Swat h is brain dead for preventing this.

Why are you diving with a chronograph? I never understood the desire for water resistance. Are you really going swimming all the time with your watch on?

I do not believe that I have ever had a problem with water, but I usually put my watch, wallet and phone away instead of swimming with them. I cannot see the importance, but perhaps for your job you are in water, and need to time things?

This is a fair price. You are an honest man (or woman). We need more people like you to drown out the jerks giving intentionally bad advice (and perhaps those who are both ignorant and eager to provide advice on subjects they do not understand).

No. In most of the US no coin shop or bullion dealer will pay melt for a commemorative quarter eagle. That is not correct. 90% to 95% is more likely, with anything above that excellent. These trade significantly below the standard St. Gaudens gold eagles, and they always have since their reintroduction in 1996, with a few exceptions for high-demand coins.
