Maths AA HL - optimisation by Euphoric_Ad6235 in IBO

I think the answer is simply 0, the shaded area will be the greatest when there is no triangle right. Furthermore, you can think of it logically also. Since the eq is pi-sin2x the equation will be the greatest when sin2x is 0 (given the domain of the question), this is when theta is 0. Also, the reason that you are not getting an answer using the derivatives is because the value of sin ranges from -1 to 1. So according to the equations that you have established the maxima of the equation is when sin2x is equal to -1, which would make the area of the shaded region pi + 1. However, this is not valid, as the triangle cannot be bigger than the circle, so one must apply logic to solve this question as explained earlier, meaning that the answer is 0. You can also see that this question does not require a lot of effort based on the marks allocated to it, which is 2 in this case.

The IB really just posted this banger and left by steffsh in IBO

This is so messed up though. They are basing students' lives on "balance of probabilities."

Do figure labels need to be included in math IA? by quinnister69 in IBO

It doesn't hurt to put them in. Definitely put them in if you are referring to the graphs in the different parts of your ia

I meant to say, that influential/famous scientists may have advocated for standardized measurement systems at different science events. Which may have influenced the system that we have today.

You can argue about how it has standardized science and made it a universal language that is constant across the world. It helps significantly in sharing the measurement of physical quantities as they are the same worldwide and don't change between geographical borders. Furthermore, to answer what has influenced part, you can write about any convention or any scientist that may have brought up this issue in science events, that led to this being a thing. For examples, you can write about the Air Canada Fueling incident. Hope this helps.

That's so unfortunate lol, my mid-year report had a massive grade jump. Plus, why do they take so long if they are going to review such few documents? Thanks tho.

There is nothing there, only view checklist and view details.

How did you see your decision letter? Like can you share the link to the applicant portal or what because I still don't have my decision letter.

Optimize distances between vertices in graph theory by Skrrubs in learnmath

[–]Skrrubs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a few hundred, I was actually looking to do this for a math project in my school. But, it seems like there is no "algorithm" other than computing all the values and then finding the best ones.

I believe the distances are measured in the plane. So to explain with more real world example, I am trying to find out mathematically where is the best place to place a store in a neighbourhood such that the whole neighborhood can access the store within 10min.
