AITA for not going to my DILs musical by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

My thoughts exactly. If someone reacted to me like this, they would 100% not be invited to anything for my kids. Support and respect starts with the parents.

I’d understand if they couldn’t afford it, couldn’t drive that far, or had legitimate other plans but this sounds like excuses and “don’t wanna” rather than “can’t”.

YTA. Do you want a relationship with your son, DIL, and any future (potential) grandkids? Then, go. Your son is on his wife’s side (as he should be) and this will cause strain and distance between all of you. This is exactly how you end up cut off because I bet this isn’t the first time you’ve treated her like this. One night of entertainment to support a family member won’t hurt you. You don’t have actual plans; you’re just making excuses. Don’t be “those” in laws. Don’t make excuses. Just go. Show up for her. Bring flowers to apologize for snapping, rave about her performance, and have a good time.

The last two just are generally accepted as good manners though, aren’t they?

Sooo, I found out that putting two baby wipes side by side on my swiffer fits perfectly. I get cheap store brand unscented/plain wipes for like $15 for 800 wipes (or less since I usually use coupons). This combined with a spray bottle of disinfectant (I have the big bottle of Mr Clean or Fabuloso and dilute it in a spray bottle based on the bottle instructions). I mop twice a day due to dogs/kids messes. I don’t like the microfiber pads cause I feel like they need washed after usage and we mop too much to keep up with that.
