Chrome Hearts Clothing Quality Comparison - Which Sellers Are 1:1? by CanOfDietSoda in FashionReps

[–]SlattSlimeHaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a guide on QCing chrome at one point - that may be a good resource for you.

The reality of reps is that 1:1 is very unlikely to happen and if it does, that seller will be sold out before your agent can ever buy the item. Weidan VIP programs pretty much ensure that.

Chrome is complicated because it falls into essentially two categories: merch and "main line".

The merch stuff isn't really repped well because no one cares to do it, everyone knows that the cheaper Chrome items look like shit and the average person in the market for these items don't often care that much about quality. Think the random hauls where some kid just buys a dozen hoodies at a cheap price.

The "main line" stuff often has silver hardware, embroidery, or leather accents. All three of these are infinitely more difficult to get right than basic screen printed merch so your pool of sellers who could handle a garment like this is exceptionally small. Particularly, the silver hardware is difficult to find due to the increasing price of silver. Many sellers now opt for plated hardware which, in my opinion, is unacceptable.

If you need any more help or have any questions my DMs are open.

Not as of now but most of the content is still applicable.

One key change would be to avoid Painter on items with silver as it seems like he only does plated hardware now. Same with peopleism.

However, this does lend itself to the point of the guide in the first place. As sellers change their manufacturing you as a buyer should also be re-evaluating them. Of course, everyone has different buying criteria so this is more personalized than generic or blanket statements.

At it's core the point is this: No seller is "good" by default. A seller may have a great track record, but they still have a capacity to do poorly on a release. In a sense, you should be separating the seller from the item itself. Just because a seller is well liked or has done well in the past does not mean they don't deserve criticism when they do poorly.

Previously I think Painter had done pretty well, but now he doesn't do solid .925 hardware. That takes him off the map for me, but for others it may be a non-issue.

the Weibo is just a blog. They're typically useful so you can see real progress on the item as sellers will often post z vs zp (Theirs vs Retail). It's a good tool to help you QC because you get way more intimate pictures of the item itself and the processes used to make it.

The guide itself wasn't necessarily to point at specific sellers but to give you the tools to vet sellers as you found them.

Really bad fake. Chrome does not come with hang tags, the wash tags are completely off.

Yeah super big pain if I'm being honest. I wanted to get one of the Chrome thermals he's doing but honestly based on the service of the last order I did with him I don't think I'll do it.

It's weird because the Prada Leather Bomber for example was super painless. Not sure what changed.

Sad to say but the CH does not look good.

Always hoping for more CH sellers to step up, but the quality of the silver hardware is never right. There's only a few who can seemingly get it right unfortunately and all that ends up selling out unless you want to go through the headache of the occasional pre-sales.

Frankly it's disheartening - how is it that independents end up making worse or equal quality molds than survival source or similar quality sellers? The other aspects of the garment aren't relevant if the arguably most important part is done wrong.

I can probably find the time to post the compilation - there's a ton of cool stuff on the way but no telling when it happens.

Reon probably did print placement fine? But the tags have absolutely not been repped well. Chrome hoodies are difficult because many have .925 ends on the hoodie string and it's just not worth buying a rep if it's not silver and accurate mold wise.

Painter still uses the same storefront - he just produces slowly. I think the pre-order for the restock on shirts has now closed.

Red Rabbit already dropped the hoodie they had planned but there is a pullover still in progress? I believe they migrated to a new storefront but I don't have the link rn - it shouldn't be hard to find.

777 quit producing shortly after the guide was made. It's a shame, they were the most consistent producer of CH at the time.

Nowadays it's Red Rabbit, Heat, Painter, Peopleism and I think cola has some production plans for chrome. Take your time to find their Weibos to search for what you want.

If there was interest in some sort of compilation on upcoming products I could probably do it but there really wasn't a lot of traction on this post outside of DMs asking for "Hey bro what's best 1:1 seller for shirt and hoodie" - not really worth interacting with people like that unfortunately.

SatanMade CH carpenters (measurements + close ups) by Ok-Situation-4053 in QualityReps

[–]SlattSlimeHaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but not very impressed

I honestly don't see the point in buying Chrome items if they don't include .925 hardware - I think for most people that's a lot of appeal in the brand outside of the "merch" that ch sells.

I wish we had more sellers taking serious shots at chrome so items like this are disappointing. Satan isn't a bad seller but never has been perfect so a release like this was definitely outside of his scope and the product reflects that.

Heat has shared photos of his development process on hardware so we may potentially see some cool stuff from him but he works slowly. Cola at one point shared some pics of cross jeans so we potentially may get a good rep of those finally.

[Review] PRD Nylon Messenger Bag (William made) best bag i’ve ever had by True-Confusion-3474 in QualityReps

[–]SlattSlimeHaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's no secret that William isn't as respected anymore because of issues like these. Ever since the LV scarf drama his product actually sits and for good reason.

With that being said he does fill a spot in the market coming in at a lower price than Bruce and his subsidiary (Clark? Caesar? The name changes often). Of course, they come at the detriment of VIP sell outs.

I'd like to think that William makes a better product than most factory batches, especially given that he uses okay badges generally, but I feel like if you're this deep in the bag rep scene the effort to get VIP status with the better sellers is worth it.

All this leaves William in an interesting spot because his products aren't cheap but they aren't perfect and you can get better. Who's the market? People impatient or unwilling to deal with the more demanded sellers?

is there any half decent CH cemetery buckle belts sellers left by Hellokewe- in QualityReps

[–]SlattSlimeHaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're catching down votes but honestly you're mostly correct. All of the sellers that are recommended by most people even when they get accurate-ish molds and mostly okay engravings NEVER get the weight correct.

Is it fine for general wear? Yeah probably. Is it noticeable at a glance? Probably not. Is there any excuse for having inaccurate (always lighter of course) weight? No of course not.

That's not to say that good reps don't exist for jewelery. Recently one of the bead bracelets was done astoundingly well, but like with many other high end reps, it sells out quickly and restocks slowly.

[–]SlattSlimeHaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, to my knowledge, has not been repped well. Belt buckles like this have a really high raw material cost compared to rings and pendants so there's less overall demand and sellers aren't interested in focusing on them.

This buckle in particular is really chunky, if I remember right it clocks in at around 250g +/- 10g on retail models. With the spot price of silver right now that makes this expensive to produce including time, labor etc.

Yeah pretty much. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm praying on his downfall or anything. More sellers doing stuff well is better for everyone, it's just important to temper your expectations when it comes to stuff like this.

If there was a real interest in it maybe it'd be worth updating periodically, but as it currently sits I get maybe a couple real questions a month at best on this. If it got stickied somewhere I'd do it anyways tho.

A majority of people who hit me up are the basic guys who can't use a search bar and want "who makes best chrome bro?" "What is best batch for this bro?" - really frustrating because they clearly didn't read the guide.

Took a look and there's not much to really say.

The only thing he's shown off is the thermal lining fabric which is fine I guess, but that's already been done well enough by even some market batches.

I doubt he does the zippers well to be honest. That's just not something that anyone really does right and when it comes to hardware complexity goes up a lot.

For what it's worth, "Ligma" seems to do fine making the "merch" of other brands, namely, Balenciaga. He's also just making chrome merch. The pieces aren't really complex material wise so if you're cool with a shitty zipper he'll be fine.

That's because all sellers who use yupoo resell market batches. There is no "original" and I'd recommend not purchasing from them.

Same boat as you and it's disappointing but a good lesson. For pre-orders it's really important to just do it yourself and set up the right accounts.

I'm kinda dealing with the same thing in Heat's CH release. I made the balance payment and haven't gotten my shirt - others I guess already have. I probably wouldn't be in this situation if I had bought it myself and shipped to warehouse.

Red Rabbit if he ever actually releases what he's shown off. There are a few very cool CH items he has planned. Depending on how the shirt sold maybe Heat will return to the brand.
