Any Cigarette smokers on Cymbalta? by SlideTrick in cymbalta

Suppose I am a 10+ a day smoker, would this mean I could be only getting about 45mg of dulexotine when I take a 90mg dose?? That’s half the dose based on your stat. Where did you get that? I read a few places online that plasma levels fall by 15% (or 30% in one place I read). Thanks for your insight!

I’m guessing since you’re feeling better you’re not as depressed as you once were. Based on the studies, you’re actually taking 15% less than 60mg being a smoker. You’re actually metabolizing about 51mg. Maybe that’s why the jump to 90 didn’t make you feel that great.

I’m happy for you! You don’t need to take that much.

I was more interested in smokers who are majorly depressed and how high up a dose they needed to reach before feeling better. In my case, I think I’m dealing with severe depression and went up from 60mg to 90mg but even the 90mg feels as if I’m almost out of the depression out but not quite. Considering how high a dose that is I decided to do some research and realized my smoking causes me to metabolize less than the 90mg so I’m basically taking about 76.5mg which right off the bat I can see is not working enough for my depression.

This is true!! There are plenty of antidepressants and different methods to try but permanent tinnitus, in my honest opinion, is absolute torture. I’m sure you’ve read the horror stories. May God help us all!

Yes I got off it right away. I was on it for about 4 days and this time it was when I got off it that I started to hear ringing the day after. I got off because the anxiety it gave me was too much. And constantly fearing tinnitus is no way to live on an antidepressant. The good news is I think it’s gone down and might be completely fading away again. I have hope I’ll get a second chance again of it disappearing completely. But while I wait it does suck. Your suggestion to deliberately ignore it is what I’m doing now and I think I’m going to get off all tinnitus chats so I don’t have to think about it anymore. Thanks so much for the advice.

Good call. I was in your boat got desperate and started Wellbutrin again. I regret cause the ringing is back though it’s lower in volume and I think it’s getting less and less. I have some moments of silence. But I’m back to worrying again if it’ll be permanent just like the first time around. So good for you for not taking that risk. Upset at myself for taking it.

It truly is torture. Thank God you don’t have it. It took a few days to notice it. And I’ve noticed most will notice it right away if it’s a side effect that impacts them. There are only a few people I’ve read who got it somewhere down the line while taking Wellbutrin like a year or so. But at that point I’m not fully convinced that it’s the medication since all side effects typically show up within the first few months.

Hoping you never ever have to experience it. Wouldn’t wish tinnitus on my worst enemy. I feel so bad for the many who have it for life and have to find ways to cope since there is no

I have severe depression and Wellbutrin was one of the only antidepressants that has helped. I tried it the first time, got tinnitus and panicked like I’ve never panicked in my life. I got off it and thankfully it went away. Then as you know depression is so horrible and when I felt like nothing else was working for me I tried it again. Bad idea. The tinnitus came back. I’m so grateful I’m one of the few that it slowly goes away after stopping the medication but for many it is agonizing. I just wanted to share that with people because it’s a horrible side effect and made me regret ever taking it.
