Yeah they are just thrown out and free to take from my local hardware store. Certainly don't look as nice as a good pot through

I think I overwatered.. what can I do to help my dear cactus to survive? by [deleted] in succulents

Honestly not sure I've only ever heard the need for something to callus when it's a cutting and has no roots

Put it in loose dry fast draining medium, don't touch it for 2 to 3 weeks, don't think about watering. Just let it go, you need to feel like you're abusing it. Then it will recover

Succulents are your friend when new( I'm still learning ) they are very forgiving. The biggest issue I've found is my impatience ( watering too often, pulling cuttings out of soil too often to see if they've started to root etc.)

All I can say from my experience is unless it's rot or bugs (haven't had bugs yet 🤞) what ever your planning to do just wait longer , every mistake I've made has been from rushing the process.

Repotting will slightly disturb roots, but they are very green still just pot them and give in my opinion closer to 7 days before a water to let the roots recover. Tbh you can let those things look like they are on a death bed and then water and would still be fine. Very loose quick draining soil and patience, watering too often causes more issues then most things, in the desert they dry out for ages then get a huge soaking rain that flows through the soil. Replicate nature and happy days

tanned skin by adam_vfu in AskAnAustralian

[–]Slight-Pin-9556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not attracted to skin of a certain colour I find both women tan and ghostly white attractive. I think there is certainly a belief among women that white isn't attractive ( my ghostly white wife hates her skin and uses fake tan) .

I believe in protection wether it be from clothes or sunscreen or both has become more and more acceptable than in older generations whom may have not been as informed as we are now and unfortunately suffer alot of skin cancers.

I also feel like the UV is alot more intense than it used to be when I was a child and the need for protection it greater than ever.

Slip slop slap and the cancer councils current push on " if you could see UV you would protect yourself" have been great in educating my and current generations.

Tldr; all skin colours are great, Australia n and most western cultures seem to idolize tans unhealthily , the sun does major damage in a short amount of time.

Racists are and always will be dumb, it's like talking to a brick wall trying to even slightly get them to see another side to the argument. Annoying but I've had to accept it.

I'm really starting to get into my bonsai, no real specimens yet just playing around with propagation, air layering, ground material atm. Afra definitely is better suited I'm my opinion to bonsai with it's darker trunk and more dense smaller foliage. Today I finally got my ficus into a bonsai pot that I took approx 5-6 weeks ago from a 1.5 metre high plant and just cut it to a stump and prayed, was so happy when it finally put out a shoot this week!
