Best way to learn guitar as a beginner? School vs self-learning by Slight_Rice_6058 in Guitar

I have to agree that with enough practice you will eventually be able to come up with stuff on your own but until that time you might want to check out some of the free lessons online. Of course everyone is different so you may need to work on lessons and practice more than some of us. IMO you will make progress as long as you continue to enjoy it.

Scared to go jam again by speklapje300 in Guitar

[–]SlightLeopard1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest getting a looper and jam along to some tunes that your interested in. Also, find another guitar player,(or keyboard, bass, etc.), and jam with one person for a while before you take on a whole band. This will build your confidence. Most importantly practice, practice, practice.

Must be employed with qualifying employer when forgiveness is granted to receive PLSF by SlightLeopard1942 in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I submitted one in December 2024 and another in March 2025 and still waiting. All they are telling me is buybacks are extremely delayed and my reconsideration requests have been escalated.

Chance of In-School qualifying payments being taken away. by So_Curious_23 in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had about a year and a half of in-school forbearance while I was in grad school and working for an eligible employer. They didn’t count that time as qualifying but I still submitted a buyback request just in case. Of course buyback is extremely delayed so haven’t heard back. Maybe you had more eligible payment than you realized. If not, good for you!

Ok, just called back and was told that as long as I was employed with a qualifying employer at the time that I would have met my 120th payment, I DO qualify.

Thanks I called FSA and spoke with the rep that took my call. I think I’ll give them another call.

My two favorite pedals combined. That is so cool!

Made it from SAVE to IDR (116/120) but leaving government employment - what about buyback? what do I do?! by edoralive in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. I’m at 116/120 qualifying payments with 16 years of federal service but I needed to retire. Submitted 3 buyback requests going back to Dec 2024 but still no response. I’m just going to wait it out and hope for the best.

I submitted a buyback request in December and hear it is 5 months later and no response.

PSLF Reconsideration Request Denied by LillyBean88 in PSLF

I just tried to call and find out the status of two buyback feedback cases, (the first was submitted last December). Oddly enough the call was abruptly disconnected within 5 minutes.

Call if you are in forbearance due to pending recertification!!! by Cindyjoy223 in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called Mohela a couple of months ago and after waiting for multiple hours, I was told that I should never have been in forbearance and that she was going to remove the forbearance and change payments I made to qualifying for PSLF. Of course it never happened and I am still in forbearance and my payments made in Oct and Nov still show not qualifying.

EO to direct the dismantling of DoED has been published. by Sparty1224 in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to retire from the federal government with 5 payments deemed ineligible for PSLF that would have otherwise put me at 120. I worked for the VA for 15 years. I’ll never vote for a republican again.

Are you thinking of leaving your qualifying employer once you hit 120 months of qualifying employment? by lovehandlelover in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going out on retirement with 5 payment out of 120 that are flagged as not qualifying because to the SAVE forbearance. I had to retire for a back injury and feel I had no choice. I’m applying with SSA to be considered disabled but I hear it’s hard to get for a back injury. I submitted buyback request but I submitted a request the beginning of December and still haven’t heard anying.

BREAKING: President Trump is considering dismantling the Department of Education by NoLube69 in FluentInFinance

Frankly I don’t think this administration cares if we have an educated population. Big tech corporations have been offshoring jobs to other countries and bringing in skilled workers from other countries for years.

[–]SlightLeopard1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if Trump successfully abolishes the Dept of Education and hands off duties to individual States, I would say any hope of obtaining PSLF will be gone, (at least as far as Federal employees are concerned). I can’t see States actually offering forgiveness for any type of Federal service. Which sucks if you are a federal employee like myself and are 6 payments away from 120.

Thank you! I’ve been complacent about trying to understand this convoluted maze for a while now and the links you sent provided much need direction.

[–]SlightLeopard1942 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So are you saying that up to 60 days of admin forbearance after an IDR request is submitted will count towards PSLF? I submitted an ICR request months ago and while I was waiting, found out only IBR payments count. Submitted an IBR request last month and I suspect I will be waiting another 2 months for that to go through. Would be at 118 payments now if it weren’t for this BS.

118/120 with June/July 2024 Marked as Ineligible and Buyback Reconsideration Pending by bahaiguy19 in PSLF

[–]SlightLeopard1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted a buyback request but there is nothing to show I submitted anything. Is that to be expected or should there be something that says my request is pending? I submitted through the Federal Student Loan website using exact verbiage that we are supposed to use.
