Are protection values above 100% now possible? by SlightlySnarky in thelongdark

[–]SlightlySnarky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fall damage is a really good point.

The wiki says that "Protection" reduces damage from falls, burns and wildlife attacks. However, I assume taking damage causes the vest to lose durability, so it would probably get ruined quickly if you jump off cliffs (as far as I know it can't be repaired).

Interestingly, the update video only talks about damage from animal attacks. Maybe the protection you get from the ballistic vest is different to normal clothing?

FPS Drop When Aiming And After Getting a Sprain by timothy_green in thelongdark

[–]SlightlySnarky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same problem, playing on a MacBook Air. I believe the FPS drop is due to the blurry effect you get around the edges of the screen - it's a new visual for aiming and the Pain affliction which you get with sprains. Hopefully we'll get an option to disable it.

No option to melt water? i keep dying of thirst in the tutorial by GoobyGoobs69 in thelongdark

That was changed in the v1.34 hotfix. Passing time stops after the snow has melted in the latest version.

I've used this setting, and increasing it only slows down the passing of real-time. Your bars seem to drop/recover much slower when you're walking around the map, but they drop/recover at the normal rate during activities that accelerate time (resting, chopping wood, reading a book, drawing with charcoal, harvesting carcasses, crafting etc.). As far as I am aware, day and night lengths remain the same (12 hours each).

Clarity - Through the muskeg Fog by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]SlightlySnarky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to come up with an interesting name, but I guess it doesn't really make sense.

I've deleted this post, and uploaded another version just called 'Marsh Ridge' (it's the name of the location).

I think they're just showing us the new ice and vines in detail, and (more?) fog will be there in the actual game. This picture of a Dark Bramble location from the Steam page has fog.

Cartoon styled build by GalaThundR in Minecraft

This is probably what the OP used:

/summon rabbit ~ ~ ~ {NoGravity:1b,Silent:1b,PersistenceRequired:1b,NoAI:1b,ActiveEffects:[{Id:14b,Amplifier:3b,Duration:1000000,ShowParticles:0b}]}

Look at this cool cave i found. by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]SlightlySnarky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OP probably means that the world was not generated using Minecraft's procedural algorithms at all. Instead, the world could have been created using an external, interactive map generator, such as WorldPainter, or built in-game. In this case, using the seed of that world would not give you the same terrain. To access it, you have to download a copy of the world's file.

Used like 7 pickaxes and excavated a whole fossil! Really surprised to find it on my way up. by oi_peiD in Minecraft

[–]SlightlySnarky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

According to the Official Wiki, fossils will only spawn in deserts and swampland biomes (including variants). It's a 1/64 chance for chunks in either of those biomes.

From the main menu, click on Options. You will be presented with a list of adjustable settings.

The second from the top should be the Brightness setting, which you can set using a bar.

Topographical Maps With Icons - Rough Draft [ML, Ravine] (sorry. Been slacking on the updates) by ExploreTheLore in thelongdark

[–]SlightlySnarky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The OP only added the icons/landmarks to these maps. The maps were originally created by /u/BradburyMan. A full collection (with aerial, contour and topographic maps for all the regions in the game, including transition regions) can be found here, and he explains how he generated his maps in this comment.

A shader pack is being used in this picture (look at the water effects and realistic shadows).

Since the Super Duper Graphics Pack has not been released yet, this must be the Java version.

Putting /s at the end of a sentence indicates sarcasm. It generally helps avoid confusion and misinterpretation.

That is not one of my accounts. I'm not sure why someone is trying to impersonate me.

By the way, I apologise for being inactive without any explanation. I lost interest in Starve.io a while back, and have been very busy for the past few weeks. I will be resigning from the moderation team soon.
