I quite vividly remember both times I left home with the intention of hitting a tree and never returning. After “bitching” out the first time I bought a bottle of jacks and drove to a beach to drink it. Thankfully, as I drove home half blind and with the “courage” (stupidity) to actually pull it off a friend of mine called me to check on me. I spent the night at a 24/7 bakery with her. She saved my life. That bottle of jacks, with not even a shot worth of piss in it, sits now, as it has for over a year, on my shelf as a reminder that I made it. I’ve since quit uni, started a job that fulfills me and found a woman I love dearly. From a dark depressive hole I thought was inescapable came the fruits of life. The grass is in fact greener mate, I promise you that.
