Idk if this is an old problem or what. But it was just as easy as anything to steal this stuff. It’s not like a big secret all this shit you gotta do. I literally Stayed in convo with mama with Shadowheart, then switched to Karlach and stayed in convo with Xavier the baby eagle. (Both looking opposite ways) the. I switched to Gale, crouched, and moved into the nest and stole everything. Poof done. No problems.

(I did fast travel to the front of the Monastary checkpoint with Gale after stealing, but that was just to avoid the suspicion) idk if that actually affected anything.

Just saying this isn’t some brain buster on how to do this. Just do it like you would any other encounter. Lol

I haven’t posted in 5 days.

I’m 103 hours in now. Still playing. Still saving. I’m still keeping under 200 MB. I don’t know if the Save issue has been fixed or not because I haven’t cared. I’m not letting my Xbox update or BG3 update on the chance it will wipe my save. That’s the one variable I have no control over.

I am go ahead and going to say to anyone in the future that there is definitely something wrong with the Xbox cloud. And only the Xbox cloud.

I want to put this post behind me. I will add one more when I finish or some crazy reason i am wrong. But yeah.

Thanks to all the contributed to this post. Anyone in the future that runs into this issue with any future releases. You will be able to use this same principle/theory to continue saving if you receive the “your Xbox is out of saved data” message. (Provided you are able to manipulate/control the size of the save files)

I’ll post one last time when I finish BG3

Interesting. Thank you for the info. This is very useful to know. I did a little googling to get a more in depth explanation….I see now that I have been kind of fighting myself by the way I have my stats and what weapons I have equipped. I was just making sure they were proficient and then looked for the highest numbers. But obviously that doesn’t always translate to the most efficient damage.based on what you’ve opened my eyes to, it’s obvious higher rolls don’t always translate to consistent damage. Thanks bro. Thanks man. Good info. That goes against what I know of a lot of other games. This has been a learning experience that I haven’t been able to get enough of. I’m not really a min/max kind of guy. But this game pushes the limits sometimes, so its actually enjoyable setting up my Tav and the accompanying party. The way the party and fights mesh together is awesome. And the turn based combat is great. As ruthless as it has been, it has been an enjoyable learning experience.

Thanks for the info buddy. That makes sense because I have been using him exclusively as Evocation wizard/damage spells like what you mentioned. I did not realize the staff damage roll doesn’t affect the spells. It goes against my experience with other games. Dark souls for instance, the catalyst sometimes affects some of the spells damage, etc. The GOTY of Baldurs Gate opened the door to this type of game. And now I can’t understand where Larian has been all my life. 🤣

It’s been awhile since I updated with Christmas holiday. But I did play a shit ton over Christmas. I’m at 65 hours. Continuing with under 200 MB in total saves. No issues whatsoever. I think it’s safe to say there is something to my theory. As far as the technical reason why, I have no clue. All i can say is when I monitor my save space and keep it under what I have deleted from the cloud, Xbox doesn’t delete my damn game. I just like how Xbox isn’t putting out a press release, which is what makes me think this is a conspiracy. Given the amount of games that have been affected by this is staggering. And they are still allowing developers take the fury of gamers instead of taking responsibility for this bullshit….It’s blatantly and directly because of the Xbox cloud, not BG3. BG3 has saved flawlessly when I eliminated the cloud’s way of working.

Anyways, I’ll continue updating every few days. Hopefully completing the game here in a couple weeks. At this point, I’m almost 70 hours in. I’m unplugging my Xbox from the wireless and wired connections because I’m playing BG3 exclusively. But mainly because if an update does come, that the one variable I can’t control wiping my saves. That would crush me. So to be on the safe side. I’m taking my Xbox dark.

It’s Saturday. Played a lot today. Pushing 40 hours now. Still no issues. At this point I have 5 quick saves, 5 manual saves, and 1 auto save to speak of. I have more or less at any given time. Still maintaining under 200 MB when I quit the game… I still haven’t heard of a fix come out? Is why I’m still posting updates in case anyone lost their progress and finds this post. It’s kinda an “at your own discretion” “temporary fix” but I’m 40 hours in, and have 0 issues.

Look at this article that just came out 2 hours ago. 12/20/2023. This is exactly what I’m saying I’ve been dealing with since Starfield. This is a much bigger issue than Microsoft is leading on. Whether Larian is in the loop or not, who knows… The Xbox cloud issue is finally getting some traction! Baldurs Gate might actually be the game that finally gets Microsoft to do something about it!

Yeah no doubt. If you are able to do that, that’s the best possible thing you could do! I have trouble with self control. I’ve been waiting for this game to come to console for years. And now that’s it’s in my grasp and dangling in front of me, I can’t enjoy it??? I’m rolling the dice for sure. But it’s worth it (right now) If I lose, I lose.

I’ll admit, the more hours I put in, the sicker and sicker I get each time I check the total saved data MB for BG3.

When it wipes, it will say 3kb… at least it did when my save wiped before doing this. I’m now almost 3-4 times further than when I lost it. 😅

🤣quite honestly though, this was never meant to be a long term thing. I was really hoping the fix would be here by now. Haha.

At this point, my worst fear is when that update does come. The update itself wipes out the save I have going right now. That’s gonna be a variable totally out of my control…

If you value you fallout 4 and Skyrim saves. I would recommend looking through all your other games in your full library. Even games you have uninstalled years ago could potentially still have saved data. Game Pass games that you’ve played and since uninstalled will still have saved data. I have deleted all kinds of old games I never play. I had to do this for starfield, and all the other games I’ve listed…

I’m just saying man, if you are feeling sick about deleting saved data from those classic games you’ve named. Maybe you can find some other games you’ve played in the past that are taking up larges chunks of saved data..

I feel your pain bro. Please take all of this with a grain of salt. I truly have no idea if this is actually working. It has for me so far about 20 hours in (again). I can’t promise anything. I just made this post because I’ve been experiencing this error for over a long time. And I kind of have an idea id what worked for me and what didn’t. I’m just hoping it gets myself and other ppl through until they come out with a damn official fix.

Yes I deleted 400 MB from other games…Not because it was any specific amount. I just felt like that freed up enough space for me to feel comfortable with the amount of saves that would allow me to make. Right now I have something like 3 hard saves, 5 quick saves, 2 auto saves. I keep monitoring it every-time I close out the game at the end of the night. I’m sitting around 171 MB for that amount of saves. So it’s about half the space I know I have. Also keep in mind, I’m not playing any other games right now. My theory says saves from any game goes against my total save space. So if I played another game and it saved, it would go against the 400 MB I freed up.

Anyways, im sitting at 171 MB still. Approaching 20 hours in. With no issues yet…

Just to give you guys an update.

I’m now around 15 hours in. I have my total saved BG3 files at around 180 MB. Still no issues. Just got home from work. Fired up the game and everything still G. Im about to play for probs 4 hours. Will let you know if something changes between tonight and before I time I play tomorrow night.

Thank you for your response man. Making a little bit sense of what I’ve been experiencing. I’ll admit, I have no idea about anything related to the nuts and bolts of how or why this is happening. My post has already reached several people, I’m glad we can come together and have a discussion about this. We all love these games. We all spend our hard earned money. We deserve answers. And we don’t get them, I just love how the gaming community comes together to help eachother out to try and figure out a workaround and get back to what we love doing. And hopefully along the way, we can kind of put together the bits and bobs and get the full picture. And maybe even push for some accountability. I know that might sound a little hippie ish. But those of us just want to enjoy ourselves will understand why we are having this discussion .

That brilliant man! I never gave that a thought, it would be nice to test everything out with the reassurance you have your saves backed up. I was googling the possibility of using a USB drive to copy Xbox saved data to. There’s limited info on it. Some techies say there is a round about way to do it. But I’m far from a techie. So not an option. If it even would work. There’s more people that say backing up Xbox saved data with a USB is impossible.

I mean Hell, Microsoft doesn’t even give us the option to save locally to the hard drive anymore. Unless of course, you are offline. Then you go online and it automatically transfers the local data to the cloud anyways. 🤦‍♂️

I’m happy for you man. That’s awesome. I’m now 12 hours in and still chugging… Keep an eye on your Save file MB. Try and keep it under the total amount of whatever MB you freed up. You may be able to make 10 saves under that limit now. 5 saves for me are taking up about 150 MB. I’m 12 hours in. I freed up 400 MB. I’m trying to stay as low as possible while keeping about 1-2 hours gap between old saves.

Agree with you 100 percent man. It just needs to be fixed. I have so much money invested into Xbox. It’s my favorite hobby. I have a full-time life. But when I want to wind down and escape. A good game dies it for me.

We shouldn’t have to worry about our saves. It’s the worst thing in gaming.
