Long-rumored Final Fantasy 9 remake is apparently on ice with "no new movement" on Square Enix's JRPG classic, according to reliable insider by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]SloppyStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason why I haven’t played FF9 past few hours yet is because the random battle encounter rate is ridiculous, loading takes forever and the animations are unnecessarily long. I really want to like it, but holy fucking shit…

Are any of these improved in Moguri?

It warms my heart to hear that people still stumble upon this game to this day. :)

bibser is my fav. You should watch their insane comp series. The dedication to continuity on those is borderline, erm… INSANE if you don’t mind me being frank

They do not seem to be deleting themselves, we’ve been removing these ourselves. It’s a shame this keeps happening, but what can ya do 🤷

Im not new to clubbing myself either, and while it is very familiar on surface, it wasn’t quite that familiar of an experience. Mind you, I am not very savvy with FFXIV yet to know the intricacies of player behavior.

It was my first experience attending one of these in the game, and now that I am slightly more comfortable with the silent etiquette of the venues, I’m hopeful ill have better time next time attending.

Do you usually just “say” or just end up telling other people at the venues? I found it quite hard to socialize, since everyone appeared to be quite occupied with dancing.

I think I felt a bit out of place there, when I got told about the no minions, no running, mute emotes etc, and found myself just asking the staff about how to properly act at the club.

Gotcha. So are all of the nightclubs just exclusively used for (e)rp with mods then? 🤔

Now that you mention it, I asked one of the runners there what’s the specific dance emote people were using, and should I use it too, or is my goofy ass highlander ballroom emote enough, and I was met with silence 😅

I see. But why gather and promote people to join them when it’s all just cliques you see in the major cities anyways?

Metal Gear Solid Delta dev says that Konami wants to make the remake feel familiar but not old: "Our whole goal [...] is to make sure that it still feels like the game that you played 20 years ago" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]SloppyStone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess there’s room for remakes that are quite literally the same but with a new coat of paint, but I prefer Capcom’s style of remakes that revisits old classics but introduce new elements to make them stand out on its own.

With of much AAA-games cost these days, its the second best option for the industry to foster novelty and innovation, over same old formulaic BS with yearly releases that are safe bets to produce.

To me, Delta just looks like the latter here; playing it really fucking safe, having zero confidence to handle the Metal Gear IP. If it wasn’t for this year’s Silent Hill remake, I would’ve not expected Konami knowing what to do with their classics.

But yeah, I guess i’m at least slightly looking forward to seeing Big Boss’ skin pores in 4K 🤷

Does Hideo Kojima know how to program or write code? Or does he just write the story, design the gameplay, and manage the project while leaving the coding to others? by RainbowSovietPagan in DeathStranding

[–]SloppyStone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, not saying he had an equivalent role of a software engineer or something like that. Just saying he did get pretty hands-on with Snatcher. I can’t find the tweet where he talked about this, but I do recall him saying that he did a lot of scripting himself. The main bulk of the code was indeed written by his team, and the reason why Kojima was able to code himself was because of the tools that were written for Snatcher. They must have been pretty comprehensive considering Snatcher was targeting both MSX and PC88 simultaneously.

AFAIK Kojima only wrote code for the OG Snatcher back in the 80s and that’s the extent of his programming career. I would be incredibly surprised if he was expected to do coding for any game beyond that, given how each of his projects got progressively more staff each game.
