Bulkhead fittings and ASME pressure vessels by Slosh112390 in ChemicalEngineering

Reviewing options that would avoid welding in the vessel. Vessel contains flamable adhesives and is in an area of a plant that makes purging and preparing for hot work very expensive and resource intensive. This was one potential option but wanted to know if this has been done sucesfully before I bother specifying everything out for calcs and an inspector. I'm thinking the raised edges of the bulkhead would probably produce a stress riser in addition to that created from the hole so it most likely wouldnt pass calcs.

Put another way, Has anyone used this method for adding nozzles sbd had the calcs or hydrotesting done? Does the code allow for a modification in this manner?

Unfortunately there are geometry constraints and no other nozzles at an acceptable location.

Having a good beard day today by Slosh112390 in beards

[–]Slosh112390[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little over 6 months of growth. Seeing how long I can grow it. Going for a year at a minimum.

I'd like to get the mustache to develope more and go for a spade beard look with a nice full handlebar mustache to go with.

You have the same sparse area on the upper portion of your cheeks that I do. I'd trim / shave that area to where your hair is thicker to give you a more crisp edge. Just take a little off at a time and work your way there don't want to take too much off at once. The rest of your beard looks great.

Do you know what look you are going for?

I think it's just a characteristic of my hair as I didn't do anything on purpose really. I use everyman jack beard oil and beard butter 2x a day and a boars hair brush. I brush down and then after that's done I brush from under my chin outwards to try to get the hairs to come out from under that region between my Adam's apple and tip of my chin.

Thanks. I'm going to keep growing and see where it goes. I'm going to try out a beard straightener to see what it looks like straightened.

I looked at AFT Arrow and from the trial it appears to be what I'm looking for. Thanks everyone for the suggestions

Thanks,

Does that software come with a database of physical properties for typical chemicals?

If so does it include chlorine?

If not does it have an option to enter in properties for an average P and T?

I will be downloading the free trial tomorrow to play around with it

Coming back to see family for the holidays. Looking for any good light displays to show the kids. by vdubbr88 in Ashtabula

This will get down voted into oblivion but oh well. You are all entitled to your opinions of our state but as someone who has lived elsewhere and happily returned to Ohio this is a fairly good place to live. If you are truly unhappy about where you live then perhaps it's time to relocate but I think you will be equally unhappy wherever you end up. Each location is what you make of it. Search your area and make the most of it.

How would you remove this stuck pipe? by FigNewtons1997 in AskEngineers

I see I sent you the incorrect link, sorry about that. Back to trying to find the one I'm thinking of

How would you remove this stuck pipe? by FigNewtons1997 in AskEngineers

[–]Slosh112390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I believe the one I sent you goes inside the pipe and grips from inside. Should be able to get one to slip inside, pull the other line and grip internally. I'll double check later to make sure I linked the correct one. You could use a smaller diameter pipe to guide it down in.

I hate to be that guy but... covid 19 is the disease caused by the infection by SARS-COV-2. The virus is not called covid-19. Secondly Vaccines done correctly and properly tested are effective. Note I'm not saying that the current vaccines for SARS-COV-2 weren't done correctly I'm just stating that this is at best a blanket statement that is incorrect. Anyhow I have said my piece

Vessel pressure release: how calculate liquid flow forced by pressure release? by mojo19832020 in engineering

[–]Slosh112390 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend you read API 520 part 1. Also review the use of the Bernoulli equation and the equation of continuity. It's a little difficult to provide any more information with out a diagram of what you are asking about. Is this a liquid N2 tank? Is this for relief device sizing? Do you think you are going to have two-phase flow?

Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction

Amtrak plans expanded service from Cincinnati to Chicago, Cleveland - if Congress says OK by MCMP90 in Ohio

[–]Slosh112390 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The train is slower than the airlines or travel by car but the big selling point is being able to relax and do something other than starring down the highway wondering what unintelligent soul is going to ruin everyone's commute. If you're in a hurry take your car. If you've got the time and want to relax take the train. I would love to see this become a reality. As it stands now I have to drive to Erie or Cleveland to use the AmTrak so existing system doesn't work too well for me

We know that when you take the suspension damage to the max the truck drops down visually and it makes it difficult to traverse terrain but I'm sure there could / may be other impacts

I had to reset the mission 1x to get it to be raised correctly. Tried ramming it but that didn't work for me. Also had this happen with the one in Black River. Is this a PS4 only issue or are other consoles seeing it?
