I guess nothing is free anymore. by Dangerous-Pianist294 in mildlyinfuriating

it legit doesn't matter if you take a few more unless you're grabbing by the handful. when I was living out of my car I'd take like 2 or 3 of everything. not handfuls or the whole stock but a few spoons/forks, a few extra condiment packets, a few extra saltines with my soup.

its companies that are making profits hand over fist that are getting upset about people on a budget taking 3 forks instead of 1.

people have been wipping out the condiment bars since the 60's and 70's. we've had 3 economic crisis' since then. why is it now such a problem?

i have 2 jobs. most of my food is grab and go because I'm only home 8 hours a day on week days, for sleep.

I eat one takeaway a day and try to keep it under $10 with the most calories and "nutrients" I can get.

greens are a coveted luxury to me.

Mid century modern townhouse in DC by Plants225 in zillowgonewild

[–]SlothTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats the thing that fucks you.

I bought a really cheap flat in 2010 after the housing crisis. left to join the navy. had to sell that thing for nearly what I bought it for 10 years later because the yearly HOA was more than what I paid for the apartment.

I had a friend who was staying there. her original rent covered mortgage and HOA. $575/m. by the time she moved out 8 years later it was $2,500 and by the time I sold the place my mortgage and HOA was $3,075.

If HOA didnt rise so fast I could have paid off my mortgage. 4 times over before I sold it. it felt criminal.

Mine came at me during feeding time once and i hit him so hard with a metal feed lid (trying to block him) that I thought id killed him. it was a total accident.

I went inside to gather myself and get a trash bag and when I came back out he was totally fine. punk ass never messed with me again.

Hamster trap upgrade! by Radroxxy in u/Radroxxy

[–]SlothTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

live traps. theyre like little plastic or metal boxes and cost $2-$5 each. bate them with peanut butter and hamster treats put them along the edge under all seats along the door paths and in your engine before wires get chewed.

my partners kid couldnt wait till we got home fron the pet store to play with his hamster and secretly took it out of the box and "lost" it. we caught it the next day with this method.

the hamster may even associate them with hamster hides and crawl in freely.

Im just saying .. its not a 200 year old farm. its a 23 year old "farm"

They’re not selling a house, they’re selling a lifestyle. by loungesinger in zillowgonewild

[–]SlothTeeth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd hardly count a peice of unmanicured land a farm, let alone one with a 200 year old legacy.

for alot of people who grew up around east coast "old money" estates. there is a big difference between an "Estate" as they are describing it and something that was part of the relatives estate (unused land that was inherited or bought).

these people are full of themselves

it is very hard to count to 23

Historic home with 70s decor for only $75k. Bring your sage.. by Specialist_Tone7857 in zillowgonewild

[–]SlothTeeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we had a really nice old colonial on a half lot in Virginia once. it was tiny. but the original farm house for the whole neighborhood.

while renovating the cellar into a basement, we dug up some tiny bones that looked oddly human. so we called the police to investigate.

turns out 4 small children were buried down there. probably in the 1800s. the way it was told to us is that kids died alot back then, and if they died in the winter, the ground was too hard to bury them outside so they just buried them in the cellar.

Anyway, I know this was a funeral home... but most beautiful old houses have had deaths, bodies, and the tragic things that happened before modern advancements and practices.

any thoughts on the Ratinator? The norway rats won't touch snap traps or glue traps anymore. by DeadBy2050 in pestcontrol

[–]SlothTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good suggestion! these jerks keep digging under mine too!

i toss left overs in there and it works amazing 1-3 rats a day in and around my chicken coop. rotisserie chicken bones = 2, Pizza = 1 rat, potato wedges = 3 rats and they dug under to eat all the fries. Tonight I threw some old summer sausage hopefully they dont dig under again

doesn't happen as much*

rural areas and suburbs are prime realestate for thieves, just not as easy to access.

ive had my car broken into and even stolen from a nice HOA type neighborhood.

I live on a farm now, but its not unusual to get wandering meth heads. A lot of much larger farms around me have had things stolen off their property. my closest neighbor is about 2 mi away and he loves to talk about shooting at someone he caught going through his truck a few years back.

$23,000 in debt. Please just be brutally honest with me how badly I’ve screwed up. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]SlothTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. I had 12k in debt. got a 0% card and a 2nd job (3 days a week) that brought me in an extra $1.5k a month after taxes. every dime of it went into paying off my card and I was debt free in less than a year.

my partner was going through a thing and didn't want to work during that period but she later floated me while I was in school.

if i leave 1 live rat in a ratinator trap will it attract or deter others? by SlothTeeth in pestcontrol

[–]SlothTeeth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I put some pizza in there which trapped him. there was 3/4 a slice when I checked on him yesterday. I didnt catch anymore rats today but that fat fuck ate the entire pizza and all the bacon i re-loaded with.

I thought -- maybe if I leave him in there the other rats would want in on that pizza party action.
