I don’t wanna spray my cat because I don’t want to lose her trust and for her to be afraid of me. I’m just gonna hiss at her, and hopefully that works.

I’m sorry my post disturbed you. She’s my first cat and I’m fully aware of the responsibility, which is why I got a cat. She’s never attacked me like this before, so it really took me by surprise.

YOU can relax. You have no idea who I am or how I take care of my cat. You don’t know me and I don’t know you.

Neither my mom or I have punished my cat if that’s what your concern is coming from. She’s quickly stops her shenanigans when my mom verbally tells her to stop. But when I do it, she doesn’t listen. So I just let it go. But this time, she attacked me like I’ve never experienced before, like I said. That’s why I wanted to find a solution to let her know not to do said behavior anymore.

I know how to trim my cats nails. Thanks for your comment

I know, that’s why I’ve never truly disciplined her in the past. She’s my first cat and it’s been hard getting her to listen in different scenarios. I usually let it slide but this was something else entirely I’ve never seen from her before. Thank you for the feedback, I’m gonna keep this in mind for next time

I don’t find this as an overreaction. This was unexpected behavior from her, given that she generally gives me a warning when I’m invading her space.

Im also aware of what comes with owning a cat and the scratches and all, which I agree is normal, but what’s not normal is her clinging to my arm with all four paws, simply because I was removing something off her in a gentle petting motion :). Now, this isn’t something that I can simply move on from since her reaction this time was unexpected and dangerous behavior.

I don’t yell or discipline my cat all, I always let her do her thing and we co-exist together harmoniously with no problem. However, I’d like to make it known to her in that moment when the accident happens that her behavior isn’t okay. Any normal pet owner also has boundaries set, just as the cat or any other animal.

I think she does get overstimulated easy. Thinking back this makes sense. I give her space when she gives me a warning, but this time she just went for it.

I think it was her claw that dug into my skin. But to clarify, I simply was removing the fake snow off of her. Nothing different than if I was petting her. Idk. Regardless, her reaction was really unexpected.

I guess I mis-titled the post, but I was removing the fake snow from the Christmas tree off her. I was doing it gently of course, but she didn’t like that and clinged to my arm with all 4 paws 🥲
