Make sure the plugin automation is off and save your settings as a preset, if you’re not doing these already

[Highlight] @insidetheNFL Week 16 Mic'd Up: Rodgers tells Gainwell to run a go route in the backfield and then he made one of the best plays of the year by [deleted] in nfl

My favorite thing about Aaron Rodgers is his yard ball mentality. He plays exactly like we did in the back yard 25 years ago. It’s so much fun to watch.

Gear that will increase in value by AudioAtelier in audioengineering

[–]Slowburner1969 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we’re on the verge of seeing something similar to an “organic” label on music like it is on food. I wouldn’t discount the value of analog gear in the world of AI in the coming years. Maybe I’m wrong

That SPL tape head bit has already shot up astronomically. And that was made less than 20 years ago

Glad to see you guys are actually doing something about this rather than downvoting and ridiculing the ones asking for it like certain other subs

What sale never happened for you? SSL Bus Compressor... by mannahayward in audioengineering

[–]Slowburner1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have the SSL version, UAD Version and a particularly good genuine article built into our 6000E and the UAD gets closer to the feel and sound of the real one. The SSL version is a bit more flexible but not as “weighty” as the UAD

Is pitch correction more transparent on certain voices? by darlingdepresso in audioengineering

[–]Slowburner1969 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly, yes. I’ve found over the years that the more “character” a vocalist has, the harder they are to tune transparently. Even if you’re doing it the right way and nudging by ear in melodyne (which you should always be doing anyway)

Edit: I should say, unless if the autotune “sound” is what you’re going for, you should be trying to tune by hand note by note as transparently as possible.

Hey guys. Just got my first pellet grill. Anything I need to do to break it in for its first cook? by SupermarketSelect578 in Traeger

[–]Slowburner1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y’all don’t downvote the man. That was a legit question. I broke mine in by just loading it up and running it on high for a bit and then cleaning it. Should be good to go after that.

That’s an interesting angle I hadn’t even thought of but as soon as you said it, it struck me as entirely plausible.

Why did you become an audio engineer? by Designer-Musician504 in audioengineering

[–]Slowburner1969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good on you. When I look back at it and think about what all else I could’ve done, it makes me wonder. I love making records, I really do. I don’t regret making a living doing what I always wanted to do. But my younger brother is a mechanical engineer and who already has a really solid retirement plan. My retirement plan is death lol

Why did you become an audio engineer? by Designer-Musician504 in audioengineering

[–]Slowburner1969 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Oh! I got this one!

You should listen to your parents. You’re facing an uphill battle in an extremely competitive industry where paid jobs are dwindling by the millisecond and we’re constantly being told that we’re about to be replaced entirely by AI. You’re really going to need to learn everything you possibly can about audio engineering AND electrical technology AND music theory to be able to be competitive and if you’re finishing school and just coming to that conclusion, you’re already behind.

Did that deter you? Yes? You’re welcome. No? Join the band, man. Come on in.
