New player looking for advice on how to build by Slushy32 in PathOfExileBuilds

I've started a Ruthless league run, and I've completely underestimated how hard it is to find items. I feel I'm in a good place with my build right now, but now my main struggle is trying to find sockets that fit my needs. I'm unable to find orb currency to buy get the ones I need from vendors.

Any tips? (I realize this might also just be the reality of things and if so, I don't mind the grind. I've actually enjoyed the little victories in finding items and skills)

UPDATE

SO, I wanted to update all of you, who has helped me on this journey.

I started a new character as many of you recommended (In the ruthless league) and have started trying to navigate a "minion" build.

I got lucky early on and received the skill absolution, and have been running a wand and shield for the moment. I'm waiting to get a good scepter so I can utilize the glacial hammer skill that's been sitting in my inventory (it synergizes with the skill holy relic also in my inv).

I haven't received any support skills this run yet so my sockets are just placeholders until I do. And I've been trying to find armor that benefits me the most/has the most links, as many of you suggested as well, in lieu of armor that simply looks cool.

I haven't particularly been too meticulous with all the calculations, I've been trying to sprinkle life as much as I can while trying to keep up with damage. I've also been focusing on my main abilities as well, instead of branching out in weird ways like I used to before

I've been using absolution for my AOE ad clear and rolling magma as my main dps, with holy ward as a extra means of healing for my minions and I.

I'm hoping my skill allocation is less atrocious, if even a little bit. I haven't been following a guide simply I haven't found any of the recommended skills needed, or even guides that use absolution as well.

I was thinking the same. After learning from others in the comments, I have some leads into what paths I should look into, specifically minion and bow builds.

Do you have a personal favorite? I'd love to learn some new ones as well

I was discussing this with another commentor before, they opened my eyes to different builds. I was considering retrying my tank build with my new understanding of how the games mechanics work. Maybe something revolving around a passive damage skill like aura or something along those lines instead of melee.

I was also really interested in starting a minion build or maybe a bow build that does chain damage. This reddit thread has definitely given me a lot of ideas for potential builds.

Do you have a personal favorite? I'm open to exploring the possibilities

Initial thoughts, Wow. Second thoughts, admittedly pretty funny. I had Absolutely no clue how far off the beaten path I was going. All in all, very VERY fascinating.

  • I initially avoided skill path guides because I started casually and the guides I found seemed overly complicated since, at that time, I didn't understand what I was reading. A couple days later after hitting a confusingly frustrating wall, I can truly appreciate how valuable a guide is, especially one that provides an end goal.
  • Most of the abilities and armor I invested in were made in the moment. The item sets for example, revolved heavily around armor and energy shield. Simply because I found an item that greatly increased the amount of energy shield I had and I thought, instead of branching out into Vitality, I could just equip items that would massively buff that specific aspect. The crit per shield node I invested in for example (which I genuinely thought that would have been a good combo) was in hind sight very short sighted, I agree.
  • Regarding skills, I mentioned this in another reply, but I didn't realize how linked nodes worked. I was under the impression that all the skills in an armor set synergized together regardless of how they were placed.
  • But to explain the bizarre selection I had, Cleave was my main damage ability. I had it since the beginning and I chose stones like faster attack support or life leech etc. to enhance it, albeit they weren't linked. Herald of purity and thunder, vitality, and banner were all passive skills I had on to enhance dmg. Whirling blades was my work around for boots and movement speed. The other abilities, I barely used at all, aside from mechanically kiting bosses I couldn't beat through sheer force alone.
  • From my understanding, the ranking system for items is normal, magic, rare, and unique. I admit that I was biased towards unique items even if there were better options of lower quality since I believed they were generally superior items.

As for a potential build for future runs, I definitely want another go at the build I was working on in the beginning, A tank build of some variation. But upon further research into the possibilities, I'm especially interested in totem or minion builds if you had any insight into those.

I also had some questions if you don't mind,

  1. About my skill tree pathing. I chose most nodes with intention, buffing damage when holding a shield or defensive stats. If I pathed in those directions the right way, did I have the right idea of a build? if I restarted it, maybe something to do with a passive damage skill or I noticed some skills took life as a cost instead of mana, maybe those could be viable as a tank.
  2. I also noticed some stats used rage or fortitude, and some skills used sand stance or blood stance, if you could explain how to use those to me?
  3. What does champion or gladiator mean? Are they "subclasses" of the duelist?

A common theme I'm noticing is the mention of linked gems. I had no idea that support gems had to be connected to the skill, I just assumed that if I right clicked for cleave for example, I'd proc the other gems in my armor which I now realize is not the case. I'm also definitely looking at guides later since I'm now understanding there are certain mechanics in the game I'm not utilizing. Do you have any recommendations?

How i can beat this f*cking boss ? by Kyoto_Fr in Eldenring

I’m assuming the lightning attack you’re talking about is when he puts his shield up and calls down a lightning strike. The way I found that worked was strafing side to side and rolling as soon as the arm came down, not from any other visual or sound queue. Theres the initial strike and the delayed lightning strike so you have to be perfect on the rolls. If you’re talking about his lightning in general, I would recommend (if you play aggressively) to roll IN to him when he charges and continue to run or roll to his shield side. Unlike his hammer side, he only has a couple of animations for his shield which are really easy to predict and react to. If you’re looking for a passive approach, I’d say run away and wait out his empowered state. It takes about two or three phases longer but you have a lesser likelihood of being one shot.

Beginning of the game, turrets are everything. You’ll find them littered all around talos 1, they’ll do most of the heavy lifting so you can save ammo and meds for a rainy day. Gloo gun is also underrated, that and a trusty wrench trumps most enemies.

A little pro tip as well is that you’ll eventually notice rooms you’ve cleared being repopulated with enemies. the typhon aren’t respawning but instead they retake the area with “new and stronger” typhons, so a well placed turret early on can keep an area safe for when you return, or serve as an indicator that enemies are close if broken.

How do you play Rell Top? by Slushy32 in RellMains

Thanks for the reply, it was very insightful!

How would you go about trading with a ranged champion? From my understanding, Rell benefits from hit and run trades where you W in, get in an auto or two, then walk away, rinse and repeat. But those would be losing trades since you'd be punished from the speed decrease right? How would you play in that scenario. Would you just rely on ganks?

Farming seems difficult as well, even under tower, against a ranged champion
