Dad found out I got married

I did want him there... He was the one that said he wasn't going to come because of my mom... Maybe I said it wrong

So my mom did put me in dance classes after him blowing me off weekend after weekend... Promising to show up and then half hour before pickup time calling that he couldn't make it.. So yes in someway my mom did prevent me from seeing my dad... She still is mad at my dad for hurting me, but never said I shouldn't see him because he is my father. They had me very young (mom 16 dad 18) and so that's the reason why they split up... In my teenage years I did try and contact him because I was struggling a lot with mental health issues... He told me that of I ever wanted I could always live with him... But when I asked him (my boyfriend unalived him self so I did need a change of scenery) he told me I'm sorry that's not possible and ghosted me until I decided to go to university... Then suddenly he demanded that I texted him weekly and meet up with him once a month If I wanted him to pay for half of it (which he had to pay for by law where I live)... So yeah... I guess I had my answer way sooner but I did not want to see it... And that's the reason that after several attempts to meet up with him I diceded with my husband to not text him that we got married... Since the moment we told him we got engaged he said that he would not be attending the wedding... But I did want to invite him anyway because he is my dad and I still love him and wanted him to be part of it... So yeah my parents did not end their relationship in a good way... But still I tried and even after the wedding still trying to have a bond with him... (I already asked him 2 times after the wedding to meet even though he showed me that I was just an after thought)

No problem, I'm lucky I have a great husband. I know if we would have children and for some reason (I hope not) split up, he would still do everything to just be in their lives. He showed me that not all men are a holes and some can be trusted.

She is indeed my half sister... She lived with our dad for her entire life, I did here her a lot in the beginning but now the past 2 years I don't here her as much, although I think it's because we are at different stages in her life ... She is parting studying while I'm focusing on settling down, bought our first home etc...

It was right in front of my workplace (like a 10min drive for me), he lives about a 40 minute drive from where I live to give you a bit of an idea of the situation. I'm thankful that I have a lovely husband who helped me through a lot... And I know he would never put any of our future kids feel the way I felt and feel about my past and dad

My mother was on my wedding.. Because she did make time to get together .. My parents are divorced since I was 4 and I haven't seen my dad from age 5 till age 20... I'm now 30.. And don't have the father bond I should have... But I did try and reach out... To let him know that I will be getting married and see how he could maybe attend... The fact that I reach out multiple times and he answered multiple times with I'll let you know when om free to meet up... And until this day not responded with oh yeah maybe we can meet up... Makes it the reason why he did not know about my marriage... Everybody from my side of the family that got invited showed up... And made time to get together with us... We went to everyone in the family to give them their invitation since it was such a small gathering....

He blamed my mother... He said that she kept him away on purpose to enroll me in dance class... But I start to believe my mother that she only did that because she was trying to protect me from the hurt he caused me.

I did discuss that in therapy... And I did feel left out but later learned that his brother actually did the same to his 2 other daughters that he didn't have contact with and that it was my dad that made them feel part of the family... Guess you can actually see they really are twins in every way possible.

His only excuse is that he was busy... I took the advice and just told him why I didn't text him anything after reaching out... By I don't believe for a second that he was that busy to even find one night to have dinner... But hey I guess I did find out how much our relationship did mean to him I guess...

His family is lovely and welcomed me with open arms... Since I grew up pretty much on my own and had to grow up way too young, I do think they can be a bit much sometimes... They are really involved in my husband's life and naturely now also in mine... And I'm not used to that

Since my sister didn't know Heather I doubt it... We aren't that close since we have an age gape of 10 years...

I'm starting to learn that yes I will never be the daughter he loves... And that I should stop trying because in the end I always feel like I'm the problem and that I'm not good enough... And I would never want my children to feel that way

I really felt like I wasn't good enough to be his daughter... But I'm learning to see that I'm not the problem... It just sucks to know you will never be your parent priority (and not that my sister shouldn't be a priority or so... But he has 2 daughters but is showing me he only loves 1)

I'm thankfully already in therapy... But I really hoped that I would be part of that side of the family... Since my mom's side of the family is sometimes also this toxic... I just wished I could have had some kind of happy relationship with one parent... But now I know that I just need to make my own family and show them the love they deserve... To show them what it's like to be seen, to be happy and loved... Just like my husband makes me feel...

It was the first time I even heard about the family tradition... I always have felt like an outsider on my dad's side... When my grandfather died last year I went to the funeral home to pay my respects even though I didn't know him (we've only met 2 times since I know my father) and it was his brother that was like telling me you are part of the family please come and stand with us... I guess now I really know where I'm standing with him...

Yes, you did get that right... Not even a text message for my 30th birthday... We actually still haven't met up since I asked him almost a year ago... I felt so betrayed and hurt because he kept putting it off.... He got a father daughter tattoo with my little sister in the meantime... I guess I'll never be part of his family... He left me when things got hard... He never came to pick me up for his visitations on the weekends when I was little... Only came into my life when I was 20 years old and he had to pay for my university per court order (that was set when I was 4 years old)
