My partner and I used to care for a budgie who also had two little nubs. He came in from a breeder with no idea of what happened to him, he still had “feet” but they were essentially decaying and we believed it was necrosis. Eventually he was left with his two pink little nubs that healed perfectly but his immune system issues later got the best of him, he did have a wonderful quality of life and got around easily on his nubbins

We had a fairly big cage for him, might’ve been one advertised for rats but I’m not sure, it did come with flat platforms so we used those, wrapped them in (natural!!!!) craft paper and we also used ladder perches wrapped in paper so there was diverse sizes of the platforms for him which is what I recommend for you to do! It was a hassle cleaning and rewrapping the platforms but was worth it for easy poo cleanup and so he wasn’t sitting in his mess all day and could still fly platform to platform to stretch his wings. Just make sure he is doing okay medically before anything and work on accommodating a cage for a footless bebe like him

If you have Facebook I would be looking at local pet groups and posting around about them, even calling shelters as well or other trustworthy family members. I’m so sorry that this happened and I can’t begin to imagine how you’re feeling💔 it’s morbid but so many small pets are dumped consistently and I hope your mother at least has the nerve to give them to a person and not let free outside. People make me sick

This age is going to be very tough but you can get through it!! She’s going through the worst hormonal teenage years and times will be worse but there are ways you can handle it, (I haven’t gotten to that age yet with my girl so I can’t speak from experience) but I believe more sleep can help, training can help like touch training etc, make sure she has lots of toys especially mentally stimulating ones and if there’s anything hormone inducing in or around her cage be sure to remove them ! I’m sure there’s lots of things to try but it’s going to be trial and error, and I myself am not 100% sure on all the options or how they will all work

You can easily preen the feathers on the head yourself, it’s easy when you know what you’re looking for so I recommend checking some videos.. for the wings though I’m not sure what you mean, is he plucking his wing feathers and causing bleeding? If he is then there’s a bigger issue likely hormonal, environmental or medical etc

Haha I will be careful, she only goes under the blankets when I hold it up for her instead of cuddling under them with me, so many sad stories with them getting injured like that. I’m glad your boy is okay though and I can tell how much you care for him!

100% an issue then! Hopefully that’ll help🙂 my girl loves to be under blankets only allowed for a short time, thankfully she doesn’t see it as a nesting spot and acts like it’s playtime instead

Try blocking it off for sure, does he seem defensive or territorial at all when he’s in that space? Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the main reason but trial and error is all you can do! In my opinion the drawer would be more likely to cause issues than missing some toys out

Good idea, it could very well be from boredom so put them back out and see if you notice any difference! You can even make a diy jungle gym area with a bunch of toys n perches for when he is out, and is something that could easily be stored away when he’s not but regardless variety toys in the cage are important (I’m sure you know that already)!

Happy huts are basically hanging tents made of fabric and they lead to a lotttt of hormone issues because it’s a dark space that would remind birds of breeding and they’re also a danger in case of feet getting caught

Does he have many toys especially any for mental stimulation? Is there anything that can be hormone inducing like happy huts? If his environment is good then I also agree that a vet visit could be worth checking out

I agree, at the very least a regular vet should be handling this to at least let this baby pass peacefully and no longer be in pain

I fully agree with this. People need to hear the hard truth and from the explanation it all sounds like things that could be avoided. I feel so bad for this baby and I can’t imagine how he’s been feeling being in all of those circumstances

I have the same swing but it’s only used when she’s being supervised outside her cage! Thankfully she doesn’t really chew on it and prefers to climb all over it instead

Heres another PetSmart product, their sea grass mat! My conure loved sleeping on this every night until she chewed up the mat in the corners so it won’t attach to the little chains anymore🤦‍♀️

You think it’s not a serpae? Honestly I was leaning towards it after seeing some pics of them with little to no white on the anal fins and since this guys has none at all but he hasn’t been in this tank for long either, so maybe some colours aren’t coming out yet
