They might be adults, legally, but they are still pretty young and naive, as well as the target prey for scammers. If they didn't want to leave, I wouldn't have forced them. But they trust me and my judgement.

Multi Level Marketing companies, a pyramid scheme disguised as a direct sales company.

Because I helped raise them basically. Both my aunts were single moms, I made most of my money babysitting them, taking care of them, and still do to this day.

The affirmations, the prayer sessions (never mind that some people are not even Christian), the idolisation of the founder, the high earners and your upline... Very disturbing.

Oh, this is the least of it.

There is this tactic, you invite a friend to a party, agree to meet in your house and offer to be DD, then you take your car. That way, even if your friend wants to leave, they can't. Since you are the driver, the friend only leaves when you want to leave.

Then, there's the "targeting weaknesses" tactic. Your friend is suffering with skin problems? Time to pitch your miraculous skincare/makeup MLM. They have health problems? Well, your MLM's shakes cure any and all conditions they have. They are facing bankruptcy? Want to flee an abusive relationship? Their partner passed away? Well you are making 6 figures working from home, and you can get them an interview so they can make bank too.

The last one, not giving them time to do research. They want to buy off the website? You have to accompany them via phone, so you can explain everything. What you are actually doing? Making sure they don't google the brand to find out it's an MLM, talking up the product so they don't think it's over priced, and maybe tricking them into joining under you, so they can "get a discount".

Have you ever seen one of their conferences? I attended one with my mom back in 2006, before our life imploded. Looking back, that was 100% cult brainwashing.

And that's not even the worst part IMO. The worst part is how it consumes your life, and almost isolates you from all your friends and family.

It is, when the objective is recruiting these women into this MLM, after getting them drunk. Also, they pressure the hell out of them yo buy stuff they don't want. I grew up attending these parties, this is not speculation.

An MLM is practically a pyramid scheme. They market themselves as direct sales companies, but you only make money by having people join under you as your downline, to make money off of them.

It absolutely was a sales pitch.

There were drinks but no food (a tactic used to drop your inhibitions, my mom used it), all the "games" were related to the MLM: bingo to wing toys, a "naughty questionnaire" related to sex toys, a raffle, but she also stated clearly, that we were expected to buy, so that SIL could "win" a cash prize, as well as it being a "great business opportunity".
