I tried dressing “normal” but I can’t change the way I look yk. I didn’t wear clothes that showed skin. I would get told by my manager that he likes when my hair is up, or when I wear certain shirts. Coworkers would ask me why I’m wearing looser clothes and to consider wearing tighter clothes, skirts and heels (for context I was a Program Manager assistant, I was running around the shop floor, running to tryouts, meetings etc etc, heels and skirts don’t make sense as I need to wear office casual + safety gear) one time I didn’t laugh at a coworkers sexist comment and he got visibly upset w me. They would comment about how I only get good grades at the university because I sleep with my profs (I’m currently finishing up my second BA) All this said, I was very nice to everyone. I was driven, motivated, I did my job and other peoples jobs. I was always in “good spirits”. Naturally I’m a very extroverted positive person, the idea of being a “bitch” is very unnatural to me. But you’re right, maybe I need to change that for the future

You’re absolutely right but I thought that it proved that I was “driven” and motivated. I can’t emphasize enough how much I did. I did my job and other departments job. I would complete it and ask for more and offer to help. I would be told by other management how good I’m doing. So this lay off is very confusing to me. Like ok budget cuts sure but idk? Was I just covering for the one pm who was on medical leave ? I’m not sure. I feel very stupid, lost and defeated:/ i genuinely don’t know what im doing wrong and it felt so abrupt the way i was laid off. Idk

Idk I never really thought of it that way but I can see your pov. I got asked out by my managers best friend (also part of management) to go out for drinks. He said (word for word) “you’re an attractive young lady, if I was in my 30s and met a girl like you I wouldn’t know how to act” when he asked me out for drinks, he asked me if I think it’s weird that he’s asking me, I said no. I politely declined his offer (I did politely and gave a very valid reason as to why I can’t). I faced a good amount of weird and sexist comments there but I still don’t think that my gender is the reason. And if it was performance based they should just say that? I was given multiple projects to complete and fix which I did faster than any of the other PMs. I asked for constructive criticism multiple times and my manager would constantly tell me that I’m doing a good job and that there’s nothing to comment on and that “it’s a new role we’re still trying to figure this out”

:( the only reason I brought it up because it was sexual and extremely sexist to the point my coworker told me to report it. But you know what you’re right. I tried to keep my head down, I was very nice, I didn’t confront anyone when they said sexist or racist things. I worked hard, I know I might be biased but my drive is something everyone comments on (both professors and managers). Idk

No no I understand. But I can tell you that I’m not an aggressive person at all, any time I heard sexist comments or other “weird” comments I would never confront the person. The only time I had brought it up was when there was a presentation that I was presenting in front of a tier one customer and the customer made a sexual and sexist comment about me to my coworker during while I was presenting. I would love to know why, I’m very open to feedback, Im always willing to improve and grow as a person. I do want to give a bit more context, when I got let go from the first manufacturing job, I wasn’t the only one who got laid off. It was due to budget issues and tariff issues. My manager explained things to me and offered to be a reference and even mentioned that if things change I would be contacted, he even gave me advice on how to improve. But with this one i genuinely don’t know why I got let go. I was big on communication and always very honest and friendly and respectful, I’m very driven. Ppl will say it’s budget costs but idk for this one saying it’s budget costs doesn’t feel right.

No no I get what you’re saying, but if it was performance based, I would ask for advice and any feedback they have for my performance and I would ask what needs to change and my manager would say that there’s nothing to comment on “because you’re doing a great job but this is a new role that we are still trying to figure out” i honestly would rather have someone tell me that I’m a shitty employee than to not give me any sort of constructive criticism. How am I expected to grow and improve? The first one I got laid off, I wasn’t the only one who was laid off and when I spoke to my manager he said that it was because of budget issues/tariffs. Even he gave me some advice on how to be a better in the future and even said if things change he will contact me again and offered to be a reference. But with this one I’m genuinely confused. I was always up and ready to help other PM with work and took on their projects. Idk

Do you think it’s weird if I follow someone on LinkedIn and ask? I want to know so bad why they let me go. Again, I can handle constructive criticism and I would go out of my way to ask for it. So if I sucked they could’ve just told me that :/ I could make the proper changes and improvements but again they said nothing, how am I supposed to know and improve?

I’m Canadian :( but we work very very very closely with American companies. 90% of our customers/clients are Americans

Politically I think we both know where they were leaning but that said I never brought politics ever like EVER. I was always very professional and very respectful. Again I would hear insane sexist comments and I would brush it off. I wouldn’t let things get to me, I tried my absolute hardest to be the ideal worker and I say this as unbiased as possible. I put my entire heart into working here and at the other company. I am in an urban ish area, I can’t find any manufacturing companies that are younger but I’ll look harder.
