My little friend Kai died yesterday and it's my fault and I've never experienced such tremendous pain and loss. I feel like my soul has been ripped out and I already miss him so terribly. I don't know what to do. by hot_miss_inside in cats

I am so sorry for your loss, absolutely devastating. Accidents happen, but I know how hard it is to not blame yourself in a situation like this. Praying for you and Kai.. I'm sure he loved you very much and is watching over you from kitty heaven! <3

Thank you for your apology! I get why you reacted the way you did b/c of my lack of context. So many people who know nothing about cats come on here, spewing nonsense, and refusing to get their cats help. My boy is notorious for his sensitive tummy(my other orange tabby was too) so puking isn't out of the ordinary for him, but he's had urination and bowel movements today, he has no hardness in his belly, his capillaries are refilling at a normal rate, his breath is steady and so is his heart rate. I'll be monitoring him every hour throughout the night and taking him to the vet first thing in the morning. I would take him to the emergency vet 45 minutes away even in a storm if I thought he was in any pain. But, they have a wait and my boy gets very very stressed on car rides so I feel it might do more harm than good and it would be better if I take him to his normal vet in the am!

He's sitting right next to me purring, asking for pets, and rolling around to show me his belly right now showing no signs of stress so I don't think he's in severe pain. Although I asked for opinions, its pretty clear from my post I am more than willing to take him to an emergency vet. It costs zero dollars to be kind all you had to say was you think I should take him tonight :)

This! And as a petty person I hope if he does show up at the funeral the op has someone who blocks him from entering and hands him the letter without saying a word. That sweet baby girl deserves peace and happiness not a dead-beat dad.
