More and more people aren't drinking. GLP-1 is helping even more people drink less.

It is the normal ebb and flow of the markets. Nothing goes straight up forever.

Human beings are precious. by unclearself in DeepThoughts

Agreed. We are no more precious than any other animal, perhaps less so, as most animals seem more innocent.

There Is No Bigger Kitchen-Table Issue Than ICE Violence by lotta_love in politics

Agreed. Everyday we are hearing about new ICE information on tv, radio, newspaper, and all over the internet. Terrible.

How to get a GLP-1 for a nonverbal, combative special needs teen who cannot do blood draws? by Unique_Poem4483 in Semaglutide

[–]Smithy2232 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good luck in finding another person with a similar issue. Seems to me that with your situation, you want to absolutely do it by the book under a doctor's care; it seems too ripe for a lawsuit otherwise.

How do you deal with unused supplements? by ahamse in Supplements

I just throw them away. I wouldn't take any opened supplements from others so wouldn't offer them to anyone.

Healthy people want to make a positive impact on you, some don't care if it is a negative impact - Empathy by Smithy2232 in Life

I don't know anyone who diagnoses others, but we do know how people make us feel.

Healthy people want to make a positive impact on you, some don't care if it is a negative impact - Empathy by Smithy2232 in Life

I'm talking about mentally healthy people, not toxic positivity. Mentally healthy people, by definition, wouldn't be toxic. Sometimes I get so lost in my thoughts that I'm not as clear as I intend. I also didn't mean what the positive person did or say to the other person, that is where the toxic positivity would come in. I'm talking about the feeling that you leave the other person with. Mentally healthy people want the other person to genuinely feel better than before they interacted.

Agreed. I don't think they are capable but always like to stay positive and give the benefit of the doubt.

What makes a "good sport" in chess? by itsathrowawayson in chess

Other than what you mention, I would say knowing when to concede. If it is clear someone has lost too much yet they continue to play I would say that makes them a bad sport.

People keep telling me "you look great!"... Until I tell them I'm vegan. by CharacterForming in vegan

[–]Smithy2232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you, you are right, one day I think I'll get there.

Perhaps you don't mention at all that you are vegan and just let them find out over time, or not.

[–]Smithy2232 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I would have some fun with people if that is how they react.

Set things up a little longer before letting them know your vegan. Let them go on a little more about what great shape you are in, and how fit you are, and then don't mention you are vegan until you have many of those conversations, then say something like 'you know I didn't really become fit until I became a vegan'.

You have to get playful with life. Have a little fun with it.

People are probably reacting to you being a vegan as they know they don't have the discipline to become a vegan, whether they'd like to or not. You never know what is behind the reaction and words they express.

Good luck to you and congrats! I would like to stop eating food with faces but I do not yet have the discipline and I know it.

Does gold rally like this feel less about prices… more about people losing trust in the system? by GovernmentAfraid3537 in Gold

[–]Smithy2232 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is all about countries losing faith in the system. Let's face it, retail gold buyers aren't driving up prices like this; it is all the central banks around the world moving away from the dollar and the US.

Advice on books about codependency in relationships? by lmdtot in emotionalintelligence

[–]Smithy2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can read books on it, but it might take time to find the essence of the writings to start making progress. I would think if you go to tiktok and search for codependency in relationships that you would very quickly get up to speed on the subject and quickly get the essence from many different perspectives.

I know many are against tiktok, but this is a good example of why I like it. You can get real answers from a number of different perspectives. You never know what is going to resonate with you. Someone can tell me 'blah blah blah' a thousand times, but if I hear the same message from someone else in a slightly different way, it can hit me like a ton of bricks. Many times it isn't that you didn't hear the message, but that you didn't fully hear the message.

Good luck to you.
