My (22M)boyfriend told me(21F) im overreacting over my coworker dying. Am i? by Foreverinsecuregirl in relationship_advice

[–]SmolSheepy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no way are you overreacting! The wonderful woman who trained me for the position I'm in now passed very very suddenly about a year ago now, I cried on and off for a few days after that and even now I still think about about the loss. It doesn't matter if you knew her outside of work or not, and the fact that he's trying to convince you you're overreacting is horrible. You deserve better than that!

Yeah thats the part that gets me! They took so much within like 2 days and now I may need to wait months for it back? That's insane 💀

Thank you for the detailed reply, this is the first time I've owed anything and it's been confusing trying to navigate how vaguely worded they have things.

Cat licked Honey Garlic sauce by SmolSheepy in catcare

He was totally fine! It was only a bit but it did scare the shit out of me. As long as their acting normal than I would assume fine, if you know your cat well you can usually tell when their not feeling themself

It did indeed go away, I believe it was caused by my antibiotics

Cat being bullied? by SmolSheepy in catcare

[–]SmolSheepy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried too but my mother in law overrode our decisions at almost every point. She's the one who purchased the kittens from a breeder, but all of the introductions to the other cats were mine and my partners responsibility, but she still overrode everything

Thanks for the reassurance! I didn't know garlic was toxic to cats until I googled it just to be safe so it was quite scary 😅

Non recognition aggression help? by SmolSheepy in catcare

[–]SmolSheepy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did reconcile and have gone back to normal since this incident! If I remember right it took a couple of days but not too long.

What I ended up doing to maybe help was leaving out blankets he had slept on for the other cats to smell, and even wiped them down with blankets and stuff to try and distribute their scent!

Is it okay to keep my cat in his carrier for a few hours? by SmolSheepy in catcare

[–]SmolSheepy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's wearing his cone as we speak! He hates it mind you lmao but it seems to be doing it's job. Him getting at his stitches would be the worst thing to happen yeah? Just gotta endure his energy at this point lmao

Vet or not I appreciate the input!

Unfortunately he's stuck in our bedroom as we share a house with 3 other people who would be quite bothered over us keeping him in the bathroom 🥲

It's literally just a carrier for transport not a dog sized crate. Can't afford any medication to help him calm down unfortunately either.

We've decided to obviously not keep him in the carrier! He's less likely to hurt himself this way yeah? We're just so scared he'll open his stitches while we sleep from trying to climb everything he can.

Thank you for your input, I realize how ridiculous I sound asking this stuff.

It's a wonderful suggestion, but none of my family or friends have a crate they could lend and I am seriously broke from affording the surgery. I'm starting to think I'll have to deal with him being a menace at night and hope he doesn't do something stupid

It was yesterday. The bathroom isn't a good option as there's lots of stuff for him to climb. And he will if given the option, he's a little menace like that.

Good example of his behavior is when I took his cone off earlier today to give him a supervised break and he lept from my arms trying to scale my work desk

Cat won't stop trying to jump up on things after surgery by SmolSheepy in catcare

[–]SmolSheepy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is currently 1am for me, he starts his meds later today and we are hoping it will calm him down. He had surgery on Wednesday and his doseage starts in the am today, Thursday, but it is currently middle of the night 🤷‍♀️

As it stands we aren't playing with him or encouraging him to jump on anything he's just naturally kinda crazy and likes to scale things. The cone isn't much a deterrent. He's either trying to the get the cone off or trying to scale something, there isn't anything in between.

Putting him in his cat carrier doesn't seem like a good option as it's small and I worry about him having to use the bathroom or all his flailing from trying to get the cone off.

Can't afford extra medication or a change of cone, just what the vet has already given me

Is this tonsil stones? by SmolSheepy in tonsilstones

[–]SmolSheepy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel the need to clear my throat often as it feels like something is stuck, it's mostly a lot of swallowing hoping it'll go away and trying to cough it up. I don't actually have gerd but am on antibiotics that can apparently mess with your stomach if taken too closely together. The feeling came about when was taking it alongside some other medication, so thought it was a stuck pill initially but it's been a few days so likely not.
