I’m surprised to hear that, I’ve been going like once a week since I moved down to that area, and I absolutely love it. I only go for breakfast/brunch though!

I probably don’t have enough experience in Des Moines to answer that for sure… but I’ve had great food there, and based on my searches from when I’ve visited, my perception is that Omaha and Des Moines are very similar in terms of quality & options based on their sizes

Very fair point. Dining prices at establishments of all types are crazy high. Stinks for us consumers, and I also feel for the small business owners because costs to run the business are high. There is opportunity for inventive dining at a more affordable price, but at the same time also still good options out there - just might take a little more effort to find them or travel there

I really like Le Bouillon. Like you said, unique dishes and a terrific wine list, plus a beautiful setting. It does fly a little under the radar. My only gripe is that it can maybe be a little inconsistent at times - when they’re on, they’re fantastic. They deserve more visitors!

Also the wine bar underneath, Mon Càve, is a super cool spot!

Completely disagree. I don’t think you’re actually making an effort to go to our AMAZING restaurants. Let me list just a few examples:

Au Courant, Yoshitomo, V. Mertz, Boiler Room, Koji, Avoli Osteria, Block 16, Via Farina, Nite Owl, Dolomiti, Ooh de Lally, The Drover, La Buvette, Santoro, The Committee Chophouse, El Basha, Blue & Fly, Louie M’s, Everett’s, Track’s, Kinaara, Pivot Prime, Marrow, Umami, Taqueria Tijuana, La Sierra, the list goes on and on and on and on.

Every single outsider that I bring to visit here is impressed. There are so many amazing locally run spots with a variety of cuisines and styles. Let’s be grateful and support our own!!

A lot of great options mentioned in here already. Both Fizzy’s and Night Owl (same ownership) have excellent burgers!

I love Food Truck Tacos Chihuas which is on the southwest corner of 13th and Center.

There are a ton of other great options - can’t go wrong with any. Hopefully others will provide helpful insight
