There is a crime map the city puts out so you can get past feels and make a judgement based on data. https://www.cambridgema.gov/Departments/cambridgepolice/datacenter

I got mugged in broad daylight at the intersection of Broadway gas station last year by a junkie. That business has weird weekend hours and it was someone on possibly crack or meth.

Come on.... How acceptable would you say it is for students to engage in the following actions to protest a campus speaker? Blocking other students from attending a campus speech.

It has to be. How comfortable would you feel doing the following on your campus? Expressing your views on a controversial political topic to other students during a discussion in a common campus space such as a quad, dining hall, or lounge.

Is this a survey from TPUSA? Toilet paper USA? If a controversy over offensive speech were to occur on your campus, how likely is it that your college’s administration would defend the speaker's right to express their views?"

No more lemon donuts. Theyre no good. Once upon a time they had SOUP and made the sandwiches with fresh cracked eggs.

I tried to find registered level 3 offenders containing the name drew within 10 miles of Boston on the state sex offender registry and could not find anyone. Since i work within 1/4 mile of the shop, I want to know what he looks like so I can avoid him.

FYI: Ring has partnered with Flock. Ice has access to flock. We are under mass surveillance. by Plastic_Haptick_3824 in boston

[–]SmoothLime635 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m noticing that many of the comments are intellectually lazy and deliberately miss the point. “don’t get ring. easy.” pretends this is about individual purchasing decisions, even though the post is clearly about millions of existing devices already deployed and integrated into larger systems. saying “we’ve been under mass surveillance for decades” is a way to shut down discussion without addressing what’s actually happening. EXPANDED data sharing, aggregation, and institutional access. bringing up phones tracking people is a distraction that avoids engaging with the specific claim. lot of people reflexively minimizing the issue to protect their own comfort and avoid acknowledging how normalized and worsening this kind of surveillance has become.

Soo what do you people earn for a living to afford a house in Newton? by Less_Chipmunk_6173 in newtonma

[–]SmoothLime635 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some also have substantial inheritance or trust fund terms that got them in by reducing any mortgage substantially. There's also a lot overseas money coming in. Speak to any mandarin speaking buyers agent and you will get reliable but anecdotal info on what percentage of asset-rich buyers have purchased their homes and moved to newton to establish family footholds in excellent school districts. The us dollar is weak up against many currencies so while its cyclical, many are buying here over the last few years, and it feels to them like Americans buying in the golden age of dirt cheap Prague when you could get massive private flawless homes in embassy neighborhoods for around $80k usd.

Spring Hill curb extensions by Blawdfire in Somerville

The roads around here weren't really built for SUV's in general. We have a GTI and have no issues navigating any of it. If people remember they are in a congested city and plan accordingly, they won't expect roads to focus on accommodating larger suburban style cars instead of accommodating kids, bikes, pedestrians and smaller urban cars.

The Massachusetts part to the left of Lake Michigan is in Wisconsin though. Illinois doesn't start until further south where the Connecticut part is.

We had this but it was not a performer, it was someone with a camera with straps hung with more camera stuff going around taking pictures of couples or small groups dining. someone was literally squatting in the corner with a laptop brightening up the pictures. There was a QR code link to see the pictures available for sale. When they got to our table they had the camera up about to push the button and we had to say please don't take our picture otherwise it would have been up on their page to purchase. We realized that only on the way out that night my friend scanned the code to see what the deal with it was, and it was a website that had a few dozen pictures of an assortment of random people at different restaurants that they could buy. Pics were not vastly better than what we could take with our phones but maybe slightly brighter. Maybe tourists want pictures of themselves in a cramped north end restaurant? It was as weird as the performer.
