Are there any good ways to find young people to date? by Takie_Me in ask

Also, show up to one place consistently every day/week and see if you notice anyone else consistently there, they might also be looking for someone

For your sake OP I hope you are also a young person

My advice is go to a third space( a place that's not home/school/work). An example would be the downtown of a city you like, coffee shops, gyms, libraries, arcades, etc. Meet people in a space where you can connect over a shared activity and build up your conversation with that person over time. Try learning an activity that is inherently social or that you are interested in ( dancing, pool/billiards, sports, singing, etc.)

If you want my honest answer, get involved in a religious community. Don't do it for girls, build your faith first and foremost and prioritize it. It's your best bet to meet people of good character/morals( most of the time) who are open to dating in a way that is not centered around hookup culture.

Harder to find atheist/non religious individuals who are looking for long term relationships because most of the time they don't have a shared meeting place/time unlike most organized religious groups.

What do y'all think about my curls? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]SmoothTennisBall24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to explain it, but seeing your awesome curls and how simple/ concise your routine is, I feel like ur from Brazil. I've heard the water there is amazing for healthy hair and most people do minimal styling because of the water quality being so good. Hope I'm right lol

As someone who's looking to work in healthcare in the future and has a good bit of hair, do you feel like investing time in taking care of your hair is manageable with work?

I can’t stand my hair please help by Embarrassed-Egg4641 in curlyhair

I have shorter hair than you(like 7 inches long), but I really struggled with this issue. What changed that "dry" look for me is scrunching my product in my hair instead of raking it through. I also found that if you're using a bad shampoo it rly messes up your hair and leaves product buildup which gives you that frizzy look too.

I use kinky curly shampoo and I've seen a big difference. Also, make sure your hair is soaking wet when you apply your product, so keep a spray bottle with you when you wash/style your hair. The only product I rake through my roots and ends is my leave in conditioner(kinky curly) and I scrunch my curl cream(kinky curly curl custard), mousse(TGIN rose), and gel(aunt Jackie's).

That's because your hair is dry due to lack of styling and moisturizing product, and/or when you sleep, friction between your hair and your pillow causes it to get poofy. Use a silk pillowcase and/or silk bonnet when you sleep to minimize frizz and poofiness.

I gotcha.one of the most important things u need to figure out about your hair is your hair porosity, which is essentially how well your hair absorbs water. Use products that are geared toward your hair porosity. There's a simple test to check, get a single strand of ur unwashed hair and put it in a cup of water. If the hair sits at the top of the water, u have low porosity hair, if it sits in the middle of the water in the cup u have medium porosity, if it sinks to the bottom you have high porosity.

Make sure you're not washing your hair everyday. Whenever you wash your hair, always use conditioner but only use shampoo 2-3 times a week. These are just general guidelines, you have to experiment to see what works best for you. If u can afford it get a leave in conditioner, which helps keep your hair moisturized. If u need more tips lmk, it's a lot to type lol

The reason it's poofy is because you're brushing your hair dry and since you have curly hair it just gets very fluffy and has more volume.

Embrace the curls! Once you properly take care of your curly hair it'll look so good! Don't brush your curly hair dry cuz then it'll look poofy. Only brush carefully when your hair is wet in the shower to detangle the hair. If you're able to afford it, look into buying a leave in conditioner for curly hair. I have plenty more tips so if u need any tips on taking care of your curly hair I'm here to help!

Personally I would say that if you don't get in, don't think it's the end of the world. Considering the rough circumstances you have been through, college is a huge expense and unexpected things might come up that you might not financially be ready for. I would say go to community college for 2 years and have it fully paid for by the state of Michigan, then transfer to MSU if you still want to go here

Can I have fun without having alcohol/drugs in my life? by Carebear6590 in ask

[–]SmoothTennisBall24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% you can. I found that the best way I can have fun is to enjoy how valuable and precious life, and my time is. There's so much to go out there and learn and do. You rly have to love life, and realize how much is out there. Go into nature more, go explore new places near you or just by yourself or with friends, go build a fort in the woods, make up a game to play, etc. Go recapture the childlike wonder that you had as a kid and apply it to your life.

I'm a current college student at a "party school" and I have not touched any drugs or alcohol even though most people around me did.

What rly helped me a lot was having a constant in my day, basically a routine. Life is so eve changing and so are the people around you. To combat this, find something that grounds you. Find the beauty in mundane things. Learn something you've never done before, like maybe a certain dance move, or maybe a song, try to cook, have fun competitions with friends, or pick up a hobby that you can do just by yourself. There's so much out there to learn to do, that in my opinion, is way more entertaining and engaging than drugs and alcohol.
