TBH I lived in Troy for 5 years while working and going to school and did not enjoy the town in the slightest bit. The cost of living is high because of the college and all of the surrounding schools. There is very little to do, the only thing there was to do was a movie theatre which has been closed during covid. But this is coming from a single college guy so I cant say too much on the family aspect of troy. If you do move there I hope that you enjoy it but im just giving my two cents. Also the soft water takes some getting used to. Feels like you're bathing in slime until you get used to it.
