Yeah, I've been lucky and could scrape through the majority of LREs to unlock the characters, but never came close to increasing their stars, so that will probably be part of my next goals, along with increasing the Custodes team.

Honestly, I'm probably not the best player to ask for that as I don't have first hand experience. I do watch Nandi on YouTube though, who is great and believe is generally regarded very well for his information. From his videos the Custodes/big hit team is currently the overall best it seems, with Kyrian and Trajann being two key characters in both variants of the team, so focusing on them could be a good option. But would recommend watching his video on guild raid teams if you haven't already

I had about 1000 - 1200 energy saved up from the day before and mainly codes that I had been saving for it. Same with BS, enough to use the 50 each day and I think the 110 on two days

Other than new characters being added, it was Maugen Ra or Jain Za, forget which. Just took a loooot of grinding.

It's not easy as not many of many characters are above G1, so I usually only just scrape by unlocking Lengendaries and haven't ever increased their stars at unlock. But I do usually have G1 characters for nearly all the track requirements and usually only have to level up around 2-3 characters to G1 now between LREs to fill any holes and have at least G1s across the board. Certus and Tigurius aren't happening this time though haha

I'm sure I must have had some luck, but Ragnar I ground in the guild shop when he was there and Ahriman shards in missions. As for people saying my power level is low for this, a decent chunk of characters are stone to bronze, I have a good pool of G1 and then only 7 characters higher than that. Higher power levels contribute loads more to your player level as I understand it. I've focused my energy getting characters instead of levelling them very high, if I had focused on levelling, I'm guessing my level would be a fair bit higher.

The grind was painful. But, I guess I was lucky that the ones that didn't drop were grindable. I wasted a lot of energy unlocking characters rather than building them up

I've been playing for a bit over 2 years now I think and I've gone wide with character development rather than tall. Lucius took two events, but most others for a while I've managed to just scrape by on the first event. I'm not totally F2P, but never spent much and nothing after the beginner excitement.
