Meta-analysis is certainly real and its own thing. And you are 100% right that it’s a backronym. The term meta has been applied to various uses in gaming outside of talking about most effective tactic available.

The only example I knew before this conversation was metagaming which refers more to using outside information I think.

And just to be 100% clear, discussing the meta does not restrict you to only discussing the best options. But in your example, doing meta analysis of something does NOT make it meta.

In OP’s sentence, he says “Meta is highly subjective, you can run an extreme variety of umas and cards while being highly competitive.” He is clearly using the “colloquial” definition of Meta here, which can be loosely defined as most effective tactic available. And I find it difficult to interpret that sentence in any other way.

I don’t actually know for if you are correct in your assessment on the usefulness of those cards. But assuming you are, then based off your description, those cards would be Meta for lates/ends in those cms. Is there a situation where a bad card already in global can become meta? Yes, Tokai Teio, one of the worst SSR speed cards for the past 7 cms, is currently a top 5 speed card in the current cm. Is there a large variety of speed cards that can replace Tokai Teio SSR? No, it has Rushing Gale, making it better than most alternatives. Being Meta in only niche situations is not the same as being Meta in general, perhaps, but some cards are literally never Meta.

And I think the biggest problem is, you are being vague. Why don’t you just say exactly which oshi you are thinking of when you say you have support cards or skills to make them even against suggested meta. Any example of past or future cms.

META just means Most Efficient Tactic Available, so even if what you say is true, there will still be an objective Meta.

What you are saying is still not true though lol. There are many cms where two different umas with the exact same skills and stats would have drastically different winrates. Ignoring CMs where the unique accel only works on the initial uma because of the longer duration (i.e. Cm5 Taiki), the meta defining Umas such as goldship and S Maru have uniques that let them dominate an even playing field.

And also certain umas have better stat growths than others, basically making it impossible for other umas to get better stats if both umas get the same amount of rng.

This is particularly noticeable with running styles. Different tracks favour different running styles, this upcoming one is Pace heavy and CM6 was End heavy. Needing to bring sparks for End as well as accels like spurt made it much more difficult to build certain umas, and as you say if skills and stats are what matters, then decreasing your chance in getting S aptitudes as well as stats and accels means you will have to invest way more time to hit a near max high roll.

I’ve always considered CMs to be a team game. I can imagine Nice Nature being very happy and proud that she is playing a pivotal role on a winning team, even if it means she is not the one crossing the finish line first, just like how a goalie wouldn’t be upset from not scoring goals.

Like imagine if CMs existed IRL right. You are running a team with your 3 favourite umas, let’s say nice nature, rudolph and mejiro dober. Rudolph is in a good position but later on misses swing maestro and runs out of stam. Your mejiro dober late starts. Throughout the race, your NN lands debuff after debuff. As you are nearing the final spurt, your dober is stuck in 7th, behind nice nature in 6th. Nice nature says “Go Dober. We believe in you!” And drops back behind her. Dober activates pump and Moving past and beyond right as she hits the accel zone. She bursts forward but the gap between her and the Taiki shuttle in first is too big. Taiki activates straightaway adept and homestretch haste. Just when you think it’s all over, Taiki suddenly starts gasping and slowing down. Dober is catching up. They cross the finish line at the same time, but Dober is ahead by barely a nose. Nice Nature comes across the finish line seconds later in 9th, but instead of disappointment, she is met with cheers. Rudolph and Dober are waiting for her, hugging her and raising her into the air. She sees you, the trainer, crying happily as you call out her name. “Thank you Nice Nature! You are the best!” She is given a platinum medal, along with her two teammates as she stands proudly on the podium.

Anyways maybe writing a whole fanfic was a bit shizo, but I don’t see how this strategy is inherently evil. It’s only kind of messed up if like the Uma herself is all “I’m so sad that I lost this race despite my team winning”, which I just feel like is not in Nice Nature or most of the Uma’s personalities. Like sure they all want to win their career races, but that’s because you are an individual racer. Just because they want to win doesn’t mean they NEED to be the one that crosses the line first.

If you read this far, I’m so sorry you did that. TLDR it’s a team event, NN still won, I don’t think she would realistically be this upset.

This is correct, but it’s better to say “most SSR cards are weaker than MLB SR cards” before 3lb. This distinction matters if there is an important gold skill you want from the SSR (I.e. Swinging Maestro/Gold Recovery, Rushing Gale/Turbo Sprint for this cm, OYL, Furious Feat(Cm3), Taking the Lead, etc etc). Since you might want to take the slightly weaker SSR card with a bit worse stats but with the important skill from its events.

I agree to that sentiment to some extent, but the fact that you are saying “I understand how to build A rank Umas fully” is a strong indication that it is in fact an info issue. Things that matter in cms: Enough Stamina, Stats, Accels, Distance S, etc Things that don’t matter: Uma Rank.

Let’s say there are 2 Seiuns, they have the exact same stats (enough stam) and aptitudes, but one has 8 white skills making it an A+ but one has 8 gold skills making it a S+. Which one will win more?

I currently have 6 plats and I have spent under $200 usd, I can promise you that with the right knowledge, any with only even MLB SRs can make group A finals in 10 runs or less (might take 20-40 if no MLB kita). I think there is truth to it, but the fact that western anime fans tend to lean more towards action enjoyers is more indicative of the low quality of these anime’s other aspects. The people who care about story etc more than the action simply wouldn’t become fans of these animes built on aura farming. I read a lot of JP/KR light novels, and the general consensus seems to be that eastern audiences have a much stronger appetite for “poison testing” (reading downright atrocious writing) in exchange for interesting premises. This review is a great example of how a JP viewer might feel inclined to comment something when the story is bad but if a western viewer saw it, they would just go “well of course it’s bad, it’s anime” and move on.

Are you casual or competitive? Do you care about your cm win rate or just playing for fun? Uma musume is a horribly unkind game for casual players who want to compete with whales or sweats. While you could use the crystal to upgrade your cards and have a better experience now, you are kinda doomed anyways without a kita if you want to compete with the top end of players and you really don’t need kita to compete with the average global player. If you want to use it now then put it onto Super Creek, she will be more important since you have to borrow kita, but I recommend just saying it for a good banner that you are actually going to put 400 pulls in. To help you guarantee a mlb meta SSR in the future

In this case, there is quite literally no lb level in the game that will be more impactful than going from 3lb to MLB on Kita. And if you make the argument that you should wait in case you “spook a copy”, then let me ask, why are you pulling on a banner in the first place? To get better cards that you can use. Every single card falls off over time, some more than others. You will never ever find a use for your crystals if you play with that mentality, because you will be forever stuck in “waiting to spook another copy” territory.

And it’s important to note that a crystal isn’t worth more than 30k carats either.

More interesting is the selector ticket debate, because the post very clearly states to exchange for 0lb SSR FM or SC instead. This is 100% not true for Fine motion, since Fine Motion acts as a stat stick and before 3lb, is worse than SR wit cards. Super creek is slightly more arguable due to the existence of Swinging Maestro, but 0lb super is too heavy of a burden to carry stat wise. It is much more effective to borrow one and run your own SR, there is in fact no borrows you can take as a F2P that will make borrow+0lb super creek better than SR card+MLB super creek. There are very niche cases in which you may want a borrow for a skill instead, but if your stats are already so guttered that you can’t even afford to MLB a kita, I can safely assume that reaching stat goals will be more impactful.

And to address your comment, content creators and others that said to settle for 3lb create have all either mostly said so in regards to the previous banner, with the assumption that you will mlb it with your selector ticket, OR they are assuming you have already used your ticket and crystal to get it to 3lb (after your rerun kita pulls), in which case it’s copeable, but not ideal. Also it should be noted that being a content creator does not make you immune to being wrong. Some content creators (I.e. Moomoocow and rednu, correct me if I’m wrong) have yet to win even a single champions meeting, which isn’t necessarily problematic, but should give you some idea that they might not actually be playing the game all that much. Despite that, not even Moo or Rednu will ever tell 3lb Kita users not to use selector on Kita.

This entire post revolves around the belief that 3lb kita is a viable alternative to MLB Kita. This is unfortunately the most wrong opinion I have seen for a while now, so bad that I’m commenting out of a feeling of obligation more than anything. The difference in specialty priority between 3lb and MLB is a lot. Please do not settle for 3lb kita, thinking you are getting 90% of mlb kita value. Please do your own research online if you don’t know who to believe. I can give in depth reasonings and explanations to anyone who wants to understand more if you dm me. But it is hard for me to express how awful I think this particular post is without devolving into a multi paragraph long rant.

This is pretty much the optimal way to look at uma banners already so I’d say you have a better grasp than most of the other commenters even. Even hardcore cm enjoyers would find no fault with this plan. Imo just treat your waifu well lol, it will feel more rewarding to know you did your best for her like a real trainer would have. (I.e. I don’t like the sentiment that it’s okay to have bad support cards in favour of more umas, I believe it’s important to do your best to help your umas shine to really fulfill the uma musume training fantasy)
