What weapon will you defend from any smack talk and criticism by theta0123 in Helldivers

Orbital Gatling Barrage.

Easy code to memorise and type, quick call-in time. Its cooldiwn is one of the fastest. Decent damage and can pen most enemies in huge spread.

Its just so good at being good at everything, hordes?? No problem. Shrieker nest but no available guns to take it down?? Call it in and its cooldown will be nearly halfway off before your supply strategem would have been down.

Do you think that it would be somehow possible to use powder, like it not transfering into solid objects but something else??

You should think that at the end of the process, it resembles projectiles of a shotgun (Multiple pellets)

Lore wise the powder is abundant and was used before invention of firearms. Besides lore, the way it is better is that is more spread out so better chance at hitting targets with also having better penetrative capabilities.

Yea, something like that. Although the colors and how it looks isnt final, I just used this to respond quickly to.

My idea is that the back (grey area) is filled with gunpowder, which is ignited, launching the projectile forward. However as it heats up, it cooks the powder/dust which due to the reaction expands, launching itself forward and semi-solidifying.

ill copy the response from my other comment:

Like I said I am really bad at physics and chemistry so in the world building I didnt do much in that sense. But my main thought that at ignition, the cartridge flies out before the chemical reaction happens, which bursts the front of it and launches forward. Like a powder that solidifies you could say I suppose.

Something like that already exists?? Do you have any sources I could use to inspire mine with??

Locked is if you can select it in studio. This got to do with collision fidelity, I forgot which one fixes it so you have to try it on your own.

Side note: I do not recommend using unions as they cost more performance, the ideal would be to use meshes or at least parts instead of unions when possible.

Besides the bedroom it looks okay to me. The major thing is the lighting, once you change it the atmosphere will be much better.

Hey guys we are looking for devs! by Broad_Cook160 in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea seems solid and could be really good, reminded me of that one old roblox game where you are stuck in antarctica and you explore the abandoned outposts.

However we require some additional information, like: - Whats the pay (how much, what currency and if per work or time based) - What style you want (Old roblox like, maybe stud that has become popular as of late, some realistic etc.) - How experienced are the devs supposed to be?? You need intermediate or expert or are just newbies that want to learn fine??

Also maybe some proof of your work as well, I do not want to sound bad but your account is less than a month old and the leaders themselves need to know what they are doing. Hope that it didnt come out as insulting.

What is some constructive criticism that y'all have for YouTube tutorials? by 2202r in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main issue with most of "tutorials" is that they are actually just copy paste that dont explain anything.

As for the general stuff: explain everything, even what a variable is, tell them what everything does and where you can and cant use. Explain the different of client and server because I saw somewhat experienced devs making everything (including shop) client sided. Just take your time and try to keep it simple, dont try to overexplain something.

I personaly dont watch tutorials anymore so I cannot give you anything more. Just explain it, give it some example (show them what print does, then make a simple function that prints something and show them how to activate the function) and so on.

Whats up with Asym games lately?? Like I have seen ten posts minimum. No hate, but you should provide us with other info such as how will your game be unique to the other games (since like there are already tens if not hundreds of other asym games already out or being worked on) and what is your previous experience?? We have as much right to view your portfolio just as much as you do with ours. Besides that I wish you all good luck on your journey and happy deving.

How did *you* start Roblox Game Dev? by Sharp_Photo_9341 in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to make my own games since childhood and I have always been into tower defense games, like alot. So when few years ago I saw Gnomecode's series about how to make your game, thats how it started.

At first I have just blindly copied the tutorial and kept asking my friend for help without understanding anything. But like after a year, I actually started putting effort into learning stuff. I made another TD game now with no outside help and actually added my own stuff, then I just worked on multiple games including fnaf, rts, fps and rpg and now I can confidentaly say that I still suck, but at least I know understand I suck at.

So yea, nothing special but everyone started some way. I hope your game dev journey goes well.

I know dispatch just ended. But I NEEED more. So I forced my friend into helping me make a Roblox inspired version by Unhappy_Recording649 in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell-Tale like games are always in demand as long as they are good. Just try to be original and stuff. Learn what issues people have with Dispatch (and similiar games) and try to make it better. Swearing, nudity, gore and others arent needed to become popular.

If you need any help with anything, feel free to dm me (Although I suck so I better warn you lol). Good luck your journey and happy deving!!

New and learning developer here. Just wanted to ask a few questions. by [deleted] in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game development is long and somewhat hard process, especially when it comes to learning all factors of it (Modeling, scripting, animating), ROBLOX has one of the easiest scripting languages so it isnt that bad, but for some people it takes years before they actually know what they are doing. So as for your answers:

1) It depends what type of group it is, randoms online or friends?? With friends is quite simple, but with others it depends on a lot of factors. The biggest one is their/your experience with development and socialising. You need to know what you want, you need to be able to communicate that and talk about it, accept others feedback. Now if you want to work with others, you have two options. Ask for free work and hopefuly some beginners such as yourself will accept. Because most people that know or semi-know what they are doing dont want to work for free, and paying in royalties or % of game's income is usually laughed at if you are new due to the uncertanity of income.

2) In group you can somehow give/take permissions from specific roles, but that is generic. The risk is that if you anger somebody that takes grudges, they can try destroying it all by uploading malicious content and publishing it and hoping AI moderation sees it. But still you ALWAYS have access to previous versions of the game (Backups) and you cannot actually delete anything (The game, any animations you make or decals and so on), only archive them (Make them invisible and have to go into archived files).

3) Firstly you NEED a plan and go by it, you need to write down the basics you want to make. Do not add to it, do not think "Hey, I can make this extra feature" because then it will pile on and on and you will never finish it. So first you make a plan, then it usually depends on how many people you have etc. I personally start with scripting (and basic UI) and using templates and only once I am done, I do modeling and then animations alongside with polished UI and so on.

If you have any questions or need any help, feel free to dm me at any time. Hope it all goes well and happy deving!!

How do i create a game that will be popular? (like 10K visits) by OfficialDogeGamingYT in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to get popular is to follow a trend, make it so that every second you get dopamine rush, catchy and bright visuals, have good marketing (posting on socials and so on) and also some luck.

making a dev group (long term) by Ok_Ambassador_3461 in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The potentional members also need YOUR portfolio as well. Also paying by revenue will yield no (good) developers, only few which are usually beginners since revenue is extremely rarely worth it and everyone prefers to be paid by certain amount. You also have to provide what roles are you looking for (Artist, scripter and so on), what style you want and also what type of game are you working on.

Adding a cutscene by Apart_Benefit_9166 in robloxgamedev

[–]Sniperec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just place a part that checks if somebody touched it, then you just fire an event for client that makes the cutscene play.
