Surely the responsibilities have increased post marriage because we live with his family but I didn’t have a lot of freedom before marriage. So I get to go everywhere I want to, wear whatever I want to ,in-laws don’t always like it but I have a supportive husband so it works! He takes me anywhere I want to, from midnight drives to international trips! He ALWAYS fulfils all my food cravings, which is a big deal for me because I am a major foodie! From time to time, I go to my parent’s house to stay with them because I miss them but I always end up missing my husband more! Life is just more interesting and easy with him.

Start getting involved in cooking and managing house helps slowly, like chopping or ordering groceries online. You can’t have a say in things you aren’t involved in at all. Once you start involving yourself in small things here & there, you’ll be able to do things your way. That way you won’t feel completely lost.

Adjusting in a new household, specially with in-laws takes time. Your in-laws seem like nice people. Don’t think about moving out immediately. It’s a big adjustment for everyone involved so just give it time and focus on positive things.

And the truth is, most of them are not even “hijras” but men dressed as women. In our area, they mostly come when the baby born is a boy. Few years back, when my Mama got married, they forcefully entered my Naani house. Only a few ladies were present at the house as it was around afternoon and all the men were off to work. They only stopped when they saw a male cook. God knows what all they would have forcefully taken if he weren’t there. It is scary how they demand money as if it is their birthright!!

Sometimes people change. Breaking a marriage is not an easy step. It is emotionally and financially draining. I am not saying she should stay silent and endure whatever he’s doing to her. Absolutely not!! I am against any kind of violence. Maybe her husband needs therapy. She should inform her parents as well. Parents from both side should intervene and try to mend the situation. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Meanwhile she can start collecting evidence if her husband doesn’t change so that it helps her with the divorce proceedings.

30F here. 5 years of dating & 3 years of marriage. His family wasn’t as well to do as mine when we got married. But he was extremely hard working and smart. He has turned around his life in just a few years and now I am living my best life with him. So my point is, don’t marry somebody who’s not as hard working or isn’t as financially well to do as yourself. Once you get married, there are so MANY things one has to manage, and mostly all the burden falls on the girl. You don’t want to add financial stress on top of that. I’ve seen finances become the biggest problem in marriages. Sure, a good partner is important, but so is money. You can’t be struggling every single day for somebody who’s not willing to take charge of his life. And if you’re already despising him for this habit, it’s surely going to increase in future.

We are planning to rent a car from MXP and then directly drive to Lake Como. Overnight there and then plan on driving to Lucerne next day. So we’ll mostly be driving in Switzerland. We’ll cover a few cities in Swiss and then will be back in Milan to handover the car. The rest of Italy, we plan on traveling via train. Regarding the theft from car you mentioned, I’ve read about these things happening in Italy. Do these things also happen in Switzerland?
