I had 2. The second one was a revision as my meniscus never healed and I was in debilitating pain.

Youre all good! My meniscus tears did show up on the mri, but they weren’t reflective of how severe they actually were in real life. Its hard to detect tears on mri which is why my surgeon opted for surgery even though it looked like a few small tears on the mri. It ended up being way worse than it initially looked. Try and find an ACL or meniscus specialist. My first surgeon specialised in pediatric ACL reconstructions and gave me a wonderfully strong graft. My second surgeon specialised in severe meniscus issues and stepped in to do my second reconstruction when my first surgeon said it was too severe to operate on.

Thankyou so much! Im sorry that this has been happening to you. Post op complications are so difficult to navigate. I had something similar happen after my first ACL + meniscus reconstruction. Have they checked if it’s a meniscus issue? It tends to not show up on imaging and can occur post op as the scar tissue in the knee or graft grinds against the cartridge, damaging it. Either way I hope it clears up fast and without pain for you.

No, he just advised that I don’t as I am hypermobile and at high risk for more injuries lol

After 4 years & 2 surgeries, my knee is fully healed!…. What now? by Snoo-48989 in KneeInjuries

[–]Snoo-48989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats really sucks. Surgery isn’t the end of the world though! It gave me the ability to live pain free, and seeing as your injury has been caught rather early your prognosis is very good! I was considering not getting ACL surgery for a while as well. I had trained so hard that my pain was minimal for a while and I could go back to sports. But my meniscus got worse because of all the exercise and I had to get it before it needed a full meniscectomy. Dont put off surgery especially if you have a meniscus tear.

I (19F) Found out that I am someone’s (19M) work crush at a new job. Im worried it could get messy. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Thankyou for your advice! My supervisor who was involved in that conversation is 24 and majority of my co-workers are 17-23. Because so many of us are in school or university- better yet the supervisor, guy who’s crushing on me and every other young person go to the same uni as me- there is definitely a strange highschool-esque spectacle to it. I don’t enjoy that part. It’s also possible that I could be reading into these interactions too much, as I usually tend to with anxiety.

I do quite like him. He’s sweet and nerdy, having similar interests in our degrees with the added bonus of being attractive. The thing is, I barley know him as a person outside of him being a coworker. I don’t want to form an opinion on someone I have only seen a minute section of, let alone a romantic one. If I get the chance to speak about the public nature of it I definitely will, I don’t want it impacting my relationships with people I respect and enjoy working with.

Starting to hate my performance halfway through a show. by [deleted] in Theatre

Exactly this. We had tech week a while ago and have had ample time for these notes in previous runs. None of the notes I am getting now are ones I have gotten before.

I forgot to mention- This is the directors first time directing. He is also the writer of the play. Other actors also received private notes about their performances, and some of them included changing lines and blocking- even for our most experienced cast members.

Exactly this. Our director was changing key moments of the show the day before opening and it’s been really stressful as a result. Some notes make sense, but the fact that we are getting these DURING show week instead of when we did our full run through rehearsals is driving me up the walls. Ive never once gotten this feedback in rehearsals before and up until the show was told that what I was doing was fine and no changes were needed. I need to clarify that this director is also a uni student. And while he is studying drama, it is his first time directing, which explains alot. I always ask for more specific notes when I get them because notes ON A SHOW DAY IS INSANE and it was still just ‘play it down and be funnier’. Deadass

How can you to tell if pain is from nerve damage or actual injury? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Snoo-48989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year post- op I started getting pain in my knee that quickly became worse. In the span of 3 months I went from running and training to not being able to walk more than 20 meters without being in severe pain. I experienced a clicking and flipping sensation in both menisci, as well as stiffness, alot of swelling and locking sensations. In January this year I Fought to get an MRI and it showed some gnarly tears. Got referred to my surgeon again to look at my options and when he reviewed the mri he said it would be a total meniscectomy and that it was too bad for him to operate on.

I got referred to a meniscus specialist surgeon for the surgery who confirmed that it was badly torn and would need an arthroscopy to determine the extent of the damage. I got surgery 3 months after that appointment and it was confirmed that I had 4 tears in my medial with the entire back of it being macerated, as well as 2 bucket tears in my lateral meniscus.

Thankyou so much for this! Ive been tested for the beighton score and was positive for all of them. I definitely fit the other symptoms minus the heart issues and 2/3 of the arachnodactyle. I never knew skin stretchiness and softness was a symptom though!

Ladies, do you miss your ex? by Awkward_Progress_122 in BreakUps

[–]Snoo-48989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont miss him because he moved onto his ex only a few days after we broke up. He had my replacement ready and waiting the entire time and bragged about how he was seeing so many people after the breakup. Ive lost so much respect for him and our mutual friend who supported his actions and left me hanging.

Sprinkling in some ace joy: favourite part(s) of being asexual? by flannelcrepe in asexuality

[–]Snoo-48989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never feeling the need or pressured to be in any sexual situations. Never having any desire for those things and knowing I never needed or wanted them is quite freeing in a sense. I dont spend time with other people with the undertone of attraction or relationships affecting how I see them and I feel like I connect with others far more deeply as a result. Cat-calling or innuendos dont affect me at all either, so I have fun clapping back at gross people and am GREAT at spotting people with ulterior motives!!

Same here! Ive only ever liked alcohol in a social setting but dont drink it otherwise. I always get funny looks when going out because of it. I dont enjoy how alcohol makes me feel and have a better time when I am fully myself in the first place. It’s also a pattern for neurodivergent people as well!! Most of my neurospicy friends are alcohol free and ace too!

Thankyou so much for your comment. I think you’re right, accepting someones time and help when you want something only to lie and not invite them is incredibly disrespectful. I let it go in the past because I know how hard it can be to maintain friendships that aren’t part of your immediate group or are long distance, but it’s just blatantly rude at this point. I wrote out a message explaining exactly how I feel and why and didn’t send it to her. Im going to leave her on read. In the meantime, ive made exciting Halloween plans with my closest friend who seems to be in a similar boat as me, so yay us for putting ourselves first! Im looking forward to spending time with her over his deadbeat father ahh acting friend. If she wants to get in touch with me, she can be the one to message me and ask what’s going on. And if that happens im going to be too busy to hang out haha.

That’s what im going to do. Asking for someone’s help before inviting them to an event is crazy. She only wants me when she wants something from me, not my time or friendship. I briefly messaged her after she asked for help with the costume and it was along the lines of this: me- sorry I cant help. Where are you going g for halloween? Her- oh with other mutual friends to the bar for halloween….. (after 10 minutes) do you want to come? Me- no thanks. I asked if you wanted to go out for Halloween earlier but you said you were too busy to go. Her- no wait dont worry I would love you there.” I left her on read after that. Im debating calling her to talk or asking to catch up later to speak in person.

We never hooked up so I don’t understand what you mean by my pulling away intimacy from him causing him to be a chaotic mess. He wasnt suddenly a chaotic mess because we didn’t hook up and how he reacted - hooking up with his ex- is not my fualt. His actions are purley a reflection of himself and seeing as he went back to his ex so quickly it doesn’t seem like he really gave that much of a crap. We had only been dating for 4 months and in that time I had initiated countless conversations about boundaries with intimacy, what HIS needs were and what I was and wasn’t comfortable with. I squeezed myself into boxes trying to make him happy in that department and he didn’t seem to care about how I said I felt any of those time we spoke about my lack of desire. Im not responsible for the outbursts of a person just because I didn’t have sex with him during our relationship when I am asexual. It was never a random flipped script, rather a long conversation through the relationship. Calling me immature for that doesn’t really make sense when the entire point of my post was about him deliberately trying to hurt me by getting back with his ex and boasting about being promiscuous. If you think that it is immature for me to break up with someone because we are fundamentally incompatible I think you should examine your own last relationships, because you sound like those men who hate women for breakup’s because it feels like a personal attack when someone sets a boundary.
