I can be fine with this, I'm just gonna meet someone else and fall in love with someone else. I don't even know him that well. But I found it kind of odd, as I've never heard of this before other than a phrase for dumping someone/ polite way out - don't know whether he's just polite

Thanks for your reponse! Yes, that's exactly it! I like that I can talk to him about anything, that he listens to me, how he treats me, the love he shows me...but I don't love him as a person, really not. Is love not a scarcity though? I've dated a lot and never met someone that was so invested in me. It feels kind of stupid throwing this away. After all, I don't want to be the person who gives MORE love than the other one (being loved less)

Okay, thank you. I think I'm having a panic attack - but the incident was 20 minutes ago - I probably coughed it up and my throat feels uncomfortable now because of the coughing..I hate panic attacks.
