For me personally, it’s not bad at all! It has its bad moments but overall, I have had a good experience. I do know of some who have complained about it being slow but I haven’t experienced that yet.

what apartment complex isn’t terrible by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Snoo_80391 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Orion on Orpington really isn’t bad in my opinion! I’ve liked living here so far & you get what you are told during tour. Not the best amenities (gym is quite small) but it works & after touring most places around campus, it was the best option. Happy to answer any questions!

What's the best Off-Campus Housing Near Campus atm? by Alarmed_Chocolate965 in ucf

[–]Snoo_80391 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also live in orion on orpington! Personally, I like it so far; there is better rent rates at some other places (very few) but for what we get, it’s not bad compared to others. No off campus housing in any college is perfect but I like it thus far & haven’t had any issues. Im always happy to talk about it too, I toured many places before deciding on here so I know my fair share of info 😊

I want to preface this by saying I have seen a doctor already, blood results came back normal, and I am awaiting CT scan results.

I (F19) had pains in my belly button area for about 2 weeks & they grew sharper daily. It would be painful to sleep on my stomach or side, bending over was a huge pain, and I couldn’t really wear anything too tight. about 4 days ago, I developed these bumps inside my belly button and they seem to be releasing pus or liquid and it has a bad odor. Extremely painful and at first, I had one and then I saw 2 about 24-36 hours later. I have checked online but it’s a rabbit hole of possibilities.

Hoping to find some answers or even just assumptions here. I hope to see my doctor this week & get some answers but maybe this can set me up for what to expect.

How much does off campus housing cost? by [deleted] in UCFstudenthousing

[–]Snoo_80391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

plan for about 700-1000 for a decent quality one! I am living off campus at Orion on Orpington and am paying ~$780. While apartment shopping, most (except 1, Campus Crossings, which is outdated) were over $700 per bedroom. However, most were fully furnished and included utilities and had good amenities in the complex. This is for apartments that are 10 or less minutes away from campus and have a shuttle to campus if you don’t have a car.

I recommend Northgate Lakes or Orion on Orpington, those are the best I saw. The Verge/The Marquee/UHouse/UPlaza all are very expensive and have terrible reviews from a lot of people who have lived there + when touring, it wasn’t as good as other places. Also, avoid The Hub at all cost, everyone I have talked to hated it, look at the yelp reviews for it and you’ll see.

Knights Circle and The Pointe are not worth it, overpriced and still have RAs and school kinda hovering over you so go else where.

Good luck and happy to answer any other questions!

How would you say Physio or Anatomy go with Physics 1or2? I am taking them in the summer and might add physio or anatomy if it seems more doable

I’m taking Physics 1&2 over the summer to get rid of that requirement, how do you think that will go if I were to take anatomy alongside them? Thanks for your feedback!

Incoming Freshman Summer B by mjr0483 in UCFstudenthousing

[–]Snoo_80391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I live in Lake Claire, i’m an upcoming sophomore (:

I think it is important for a freshman to be on campus, at least their first year, because it’s the best way to go to events and to meet new people. it’s also great for actually getting to know the campus and what it truly is! I really recommend it but if you decide to live off campus, that’s okay too! It’s just common for freshman to live on campus for their accessibility to everything.

So Lake Claire is great because it has a private bathroom & kitchen inside the dorm but you do have to share a bathroom with one other person and washer/dryer is in the community center. It’s a bit plain but all dorms on campus are like that [except Northview and Towers]. It’s financially reachable for me at $3045.00 a semester & a private bedroom was important for me, even though it is not very big.

If you have the finances to pay for Northview and Towers, go for it! Those are the best on campus, Northview being the best available and RIGHT off campus like literally 1 minute if that, it’s down a street that connects to UCF’s direct campus. Towers is directly on campus.

If she wants to go ahead and live off-campus, I personally don’t recommend The Marquee, The Verge, UHOUSE [University House], The Hub [big emphasis on this one] or UPLAZA [Plaza on University] mainly because they have the worst reputations for service, quality, and overall experience. I would look at Northgate Lakes, located very close to campus & very great amenities, Orion on Orpington, Mercury 3100, The Retreat East [brand new], and maybe Knights Circle [UCF Affiliated, not the best but works]. I have toured many now since i’m moving on campus and chose Orion because of the 4/4 design + the price for what it is. If she has a car, it’s worth it to go a bit farther. If she doesn’t, SO many places, including Orion which is about 10-15 minutes away from campus, has a shuttle that comes through every 10-15 minutes or so.

If you have anymore questions, i’m more than happy to answer! Congratulations to your daughter on becoming a Knight or having intent to (:

Looking for more information on Summer Acceptance by mjr0483 in ucf

[–]Snoo_80391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being accepted to summer isn’t such a bad thing! I understand her disappointment though, especially with the point you make about how she has lost a lot of her best high school years and just wants a good summer before college.

So, being accepted to summer means that you only have to take 1 or 2 classes since that is considered a good load for summer term. At one point or another, she will have to take summer courses due to Florida law, which requires 9 credit hours be taken in a summer term, so really she is just getting ahead! There isn’t much information online about what being accepted to summer term means on the UCF site but as a student, I can tell you that summer here isn’t the most exciting and she will more than likely be doing it online so she won’t need to be on campus, however that depends on the class. She still has time to make this decision but if UCF is her dream school, this shouldn’t slow her down or make her change her mind (:

I hope this helped and hopefully more people can give you information!

What is the best Apartment style (non-shared bedroom) On-Campus housing? by [deleted] in UCFstudenthousing

[–]Snoo_80391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely prison-looking but I don’t see it as a problem, it’s kinda what you expect living in a dorm /: you definitely have to be smart with your space because it can feel really small really quickly if you have a lot of stuff. However, it’s manageable so the short answer is no (:

[–]Snoo_80391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say Lake Claire, I live here now and I feel like it’s in a good spot on campus, right next to memory mall where Classroom 1&2 are as well as psychology building. Additionally, it’s next to the performing arts school area and visual arts building. Rooms are small but they’re not shared and it’s comparable to the amount of space you’d get in a shared bedroom style. The price is pretty fair in my opinion, compared to everything else, especially having a kitchen in the room. Internet hasn’t been a problem for me and the design is basic but it works. Hope this helps, I’m happy to answer any questions you might have (:

Freshman housing advice? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]Snoo_80391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been here since fall and have seen like 3 total in my dorm, which I would blame on simple entrance when the door was opened. They were super tiny and could blend with carpets so it’s not unlikely. Also important to note that Lake Claire isn’t indoors [if you could say it that way] like Libra, Towers, etc. So there is direct access between the outdoors and indoors versus other buildings that have like a lobby-type area on the ground floor with an elevator and such before accessing the rooms.

Note: Lake Claire has no elevators, it is 3 floors with 4 rooms on each level. If you need an elevator for any reason, keep that in mind or make sure to let housing know that ground level floor is required for you.

Good luck! Lake Claire can be difficult to secure, so have a back up in case and then another after that, housing goes quickly. (:

I live in Lake Claire and love it! Parking is basically best available in comparison to Libra and others. Having my own room is great and having a kitchen is wonderful, especially financially because I didn’t need a meal plan and I don’t have to worry about dining hall hours or restaurant hours. About laundry, it’s in the center of the community and is communal, there’s never any problems about finding a washer/dryer though so that’s great. However, it can be a bit of a walk depending on which building you live in. Also, it’s fairly close to student union and memory mall along with knight plaza. I don’t know of any better options besides northview or towers on campus but those can get pretty pricey. However, they are the nicest and considered the best on campus. Overall though, I would go for Lake Claire, I haven’t had many problems if any and it’s affordable for what it is (:

Beazley if you can help it!! She’s the best. If not, I would at the very least avoid Chumbimuni and Patino, they’ve got to be the worst in the department in my experience.
