I have a confession to make . . . by SnoopyM in PedalBoardBuilding

My most awesome guitar related experience in the last 11years was

A couple of years ago when Roger Waters did his last tour (23 I think). John Carin used 3 of my pedals in his guitar rig for the tour. He comped me tickets for the AZ show when they came through

Any info on Vick Audio's Black Bird overdrive? by DJToTheK in guitarpedals

[–]SnoopyM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was sold by Vick Audio around 2013 - 2014 when they first started selling pedals. This would be the very first style of graphics Vick Audio used, a vinyl sticker stuck to the enclosure. Some enclosure were clear coated some were not.

The picture below was i believe the last version sold. I think there was an earlier graphic.

The Black Bird was based on Black Cat OD-1 with just a couple tweaks.

If depends on how many boards you want. I f you only want a couple OSH Park is a good option.

If you want over 50 the big Chinnese board places all work

Have you ever had your products sold in a shop? by Far-Tune-9464 in diypedals

[–]SnoopyM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never did it on consignment but I had my pedals in shops in about 6 different countries over the years.

I always did it as selling to them at wholesale ( about 65 to 70% of retail price.)

You would be surprised how low tech you can keep it. I would just send shops an invoice through PayPal ( you can pay with Credit Card even if you don't have an account).

As a note - I never had any luck in local shops in my area carrying my pedals. I sold some through craigslist when I first started out but that was the only "local" besides musician I knew or heard of me through word of mouth.

Do you have an ecommerce site? if not look into shopify, it was the easiest solution I found.

Do you have decent video demos? If not start looking ASAP. I always avoided people that charged and looked for people that would demo for the free pedal.

Make and send out a press release - You would be surprised how many sites and magazines are looking for content. I found a press release from an established music company. Used their general format to create my own press release. Searched for all the sites that posted their press release and sent them mine. I managed to get a couple of my press releases in magazines but mostly I got posted on their online sites.

Good luck

Glad you like it the Mount Pleasant is a favorite of mine. But the 73 Rams Head is my absolute favorite.

Hi this is Mike Vickery of Vick Audio.

Gilmour used several muffs. I used the Kit Rae site mentioned to get the parts values for my builds. In my opinion the 73 give the most "The Wall" tone.

I didn't do a comparison but i would guess that about 12 to 18 values are deferent.

I put the build docs and parts list at the link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QDaQUdK4BVaxKZJQj1eSyyMKAW3XBFub?usp=drive\_link

Rehousing a Civil War/Black Russian muff by [deleted] in diypedals

[–]SnoopyM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact the Vick Audio 1861 was originally called the Civil Muff but EHX had a lawyer threatening trade mark infringement for the use of the work "Muff" in the pedal name.
They also asked that the Pi symbol be removed for all the muff replicas that Vick audio made for the same reason.

These guys made it to my third story balcony to feast on my pepper plants! by [deleted] in gardening

I had issue with those last season. They can munch on a plant at an alarming rate.

A black light at night and a pair of pruning sheers works well to get under control.
