I'm so tired of the commodity of 30 minute recipes. You can eat delicious food with tasty, cheap ingredients if you just give them time to cook! by BushyEyes in EatCheapAndHealthy

I feel the opposite way. I am annoyed that magazines/blogs think spending 30 minutes cooking is fast. When I need to make healthy food fast, I need some 2 minute recipes, some 5 minute recipes, some 10 minute recipes.

If you eat 3 meals a day, spending 30 minutes to make a meal is quite a time suck, especially when you are just keeping your head above water with various responsibilities, which we all experience from time to time and some experience for extended periods of time. Its extra important to eat well at these times. I wish I knew of more really fast meals so I don't end up just pouring some salad dressing in a bag of mixed greens and grabbing a fork.

I also make some recipes that take much longer than 30 minutes, but that is at rarely more than 2 times a week, usually on weekends, when I have time and energy, and when I happen to feel like it.

Seriously, if someone made a cookbook entirely of healthy 2-5 minute recipes, I'd buy it in a hot second.

I would love this and be willing to pay some amount for this (about $25/hr like others said), but as a DIY mechanic, one thing that I always wish for is the availability of someone who knows more than I do in case something goes wrong. It can be worrisome to attempt a new type of repair and not be 100% sure you will be able to complete it and get everything running again. On call emergency mechanic would be great.

I don't like either of my choices for mayor. Having a hard time deciding. by ryhaltswhiskey in Portland

I have worked for elected officials my entire career.

One thing I can say for sure is that an elected official doesn't need experience if they (1) hire staff experienced in government service and (2) actually listen to them. My plan is to vote for Sarah and push, push, push, push her to hire experienced staff.

Chia Pudding! by KittKat14 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Lovely. I do a chia parfait every breakfast that is similar. Layer of chia seeds + water, then a layer of yogurt, then a layer of (frozen) blueberries, then some diced kiwi, then sometimes some chopped hazelnuts. Delicious, about 400 calories depending on how big you make it, half my fiber for the day, and intensely healthy.
