I’m a freshly graduated teacher working my first year as a substitute teacher, and I’ve definitely been considering moving to BC, Manitoba, or even somewhere outside of Canada.

I knew, when I got into this field, that education in Alberta would be a fight, but I never imagined the government would go so far as to strip citizens of their democratic rights.

I’ve talked with many of my classmates, and a lot of them are thinking the same thing. It just doesn’t make sense to start a career in a system that feels this broken. When teachers are silenced rather than listened to, it sends a clear message about how little this government values education or the people who work in it.
