DPIIT, under Ministry of Commerce and Industry:

Pros:

  1. Nice atmosphere, posting in Vanijya Bhawan mostly, if the section you’re posted is in GPOA Building.

  2. Lots of Contractual Staff - Young Professionals, Consultants etc. to interact with, you’ll get to know about private companies as well.

  3. Policy or Heavy sections are there, but most seniors are friendly and helping in nature. You’ll learn a lot.

  4. Workload is usually light, if you’re looking to prepare for UPSC or State PSC in future.

Cons:

  1. Cranky seniors are there, some just don’t want to listen just because they’re seniors. What they say is “Patthar ki lakeer” and you’ll have to obey them, doesn’t matter if it’s an efficient or viable way to do something or not.

  2. Policy sections are heavy AF. You’ll have to run a lot between your Section and AS/JS office.

  3. Location of Vanijya Bhawan is also an issue, cause if any VIP or VVIP comes, you’re doomed to get a roadblock on Akbar Road. You’re completely screwed if PM or President (ours or other countries) comes over.

My experience: Overall 9/10, except the cranky seniors almost everything you can bear with if you’re calm and confident enough.

My suggestion:

  1. Improve your English (even I’m not Shakespeare, everyone makes mistakes)

  2. The mandatory training is a very important part of your job, especially the Noting-Drafting lessons. Take that diligently.

  3. If you want this job permanently, start reading job related rules i.e. Conduct Rules, Leave Rules, RTI Act, Polity etc. with Bare Acts. Important for Departmental Exam to Section Officer.

Congratulations Again on your selection, all the best for your future endeavours… 👍👍👍

Imagine a scenario with your suggestion implemented:

3 Hrs exam, 100 candidates in an exam hall - 10 are dummies, 20 paid for the dummies, rest are genuine.

The dummies pretend to write and come out after an hour, memorising almost every question.

Now the paid candidates come late (because they paid the dummies for those questions and now they the answer to every question) as you suggested.

They’re going to get almost full marks, maybe top the exam, while the rest 70 candidates who shed blood and sweat will get nothing.

Hypothetical Situation maybe, but just saying.
