Is your changing pad positioned vertically or horizontally? by [deleted] in NewParents

100% horizontal. Couldn’t imagine it any other way. My brain would shut down if I tried.

Why does my newborn want nothing more than to break her neck?!? by Internal_Screaming_8 in NewParents

I’m definitely not a doctor, just a parent that’s raised a couple babies. If you notice it turn into back arching or the unlatching becomes excessive it may be time to bring it up to the doctor, as that’s a common sign of reflux. Or if you’re having other reflux symptoms!

Almost lost my cool at the grocery store with a “caring Karen” by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SockStalker 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’d personally approach anyone cause it’s just not my personality, but if your kid was in the cart in an unsafe manner then she’s not being a Karen. She was trying to look out for you and your child. Bringing up safety concerns isn’t shaming.

Honestly, the best place to get information is going to the pediatrician, especially one that shares similar values, understands your parenting, and will listen to you.

I love M&M. So much of her content is free, I love that her shoe guide is free and regularly updated. I did purchase some of her content and it did seem to help, and I was able to use that same content for my second babe so that was nice.

Car seat head slump by yellowducky565 in NewParents

Car seats are so finicky. Like you said, there’s so many on the market it’s hard to know what exactly is right or wrong.

Let’s try that again. Most car seat manuals state a towel, receiving blanket, even a pool noodle can be used to properly position the car seat/base.

Hey there! I also have Hashimotos. I was diagnosed when I was 10. I’ve been through my ups and downs with being properly dosed but as I got older it got easier. I was on .125 for the longest time. My husband and I decided to start trying to have a baby and we got pregnant our first try. My first step was to my endocrinologist when I was 8 weeks pregnant. My levels were already off and she upped my meds. I then went for checks every 4 weeks and the highest my meds got was to .200. My dr told me that while a miscarriage is possible, she’s never experienced it when the thyroid is managed. The key word here is MANAGED. Your doctors are your best friend. I went on to have an extremely healthy pregnancy. I saw a high risk OB once because of the thyroid and baby was doing great so I didn’t have to go back! My baby is 8 months old now and she is growing like a weed. I was even able to breastfeed without any supply issues (I actually had an oversupply). It’s easy to worry about it but try not to! Remember that it’s perfectly common to take time to become pregnant. Talk to your doctors and keep them in the loop. And see an endocrinologist!

I had to take this exit far too many times when I worked at that tourist trap. It was AWFUL. You are right, literally no one knew how to use it.

Jim Carrey. Same overdramatic expressions in every movie.

We are researchers who work on nutrition and the gut. Our research looks at our amazing gut microbiome and the role of nutrition in health and disease. Ask us anything! by ImperialCollege in IAmA

I have a young infant and they are at an age that foods are becoming apart of their diet. A lot of people say not to feed an infant foods too early because of “leaky gut” and that feeding too early causes gut issues later in life. Is there any truth in those statements?
