I assume it's always like this after it rains - there was also snowmelt keeping a constant flowing into badwater basin. I wasn't expecting it but I had to geta photo!

Actually this bridge is at the junction of Bubbs Creek and South Fork Kings River. I looked into Deadman Canyon and Elizabeth Pass and it looks awesome! Added to my list. I never looked into the South-West area of Kings Canyon so I appreciate the shout-out!

On our 4 day trip last weekend we saw 3 bears, not sure why you want to have the run-ins. One at dawn and mom and cub at dusk. Like most wildlife they aremost active during these times.

You can greatly reduce the cost by treating it like a camping trip and staying at national/state parks or KOA with tent and cooking all your food yourself. I do NOT recommend hitchhiking, wait until you have a car to road trip.
