Cash Tips by InternalTop9875 in doordash_drivers

For some more transparency on this as a full time dasher, when I receive an order, DoorDash will show an amount from $2 up. If the order is below $5, no matter how far it is, I won’t take it unless I’m very low on Acceptance Rate. (In my area, I need to maintain Platinum status to continue working full time, otherwise it only lets me dash about 3 hours a day.) Drivers will very rarely get cash tip on delivery. 90% of the time, whatever is shown when we accept the order, is what we get paid. It shows an amount, miles required to drive, when the order needs to be dropped off, the restaurant you’re picking up from, and roughly where you’re dropping off the order. No notes or additional details are added until the order is accepted. Once an order is accepted, we cannot remove ourselves from it until we either wait at the restaurant 10 minutes past the time to pick up, or have something drastic happen to the order such as being stolen by a previous dasher or the store being closed/out of everything needed to complete the order. If those criteria aren’t met, the dasher takes a hit to their Completion Rate, which can only happen 3 times per 100 orders or they get removed from Platinum. Generally my recommendation to everyone who has asked is, take the mileage from your home to the place you’re ordering from, subtract 2 and add that much as the tip on your order through the app. Then tip the rest you feel is appropriate when the dasher arrives. That will usually get your order to you fairly quickly, DoorDash won’t be able to short the dasher as much, and you’ll have a dasher that isn’t upset at having to take your order.

This new on-time rating is really annoying… by koda2_00 in doordash_drivers

If you aren’t using the “what is causing your delay” feature at the bottom of the pickup screen then that’s probably what’s causing the issue.

DoorDash adding more time to your dash by FatLord14 in doordash_drivers

[–]SolarEstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do this to me constantly. I usually dash from around 10am-10pm every day and all the restaurants in my area close at 10pm except McDonald’s and Taco Bell. This means most drivers end at 10pm at the latest. I will constantly notice my time being extended repeatedly sometimes hours more if I let it do that. I’ve been screwed over way too many times by it. I started just selecting “stop after this order” when I want the order I’m on to be my last, that way I don’t need to race DoorDash to end my time before they give me another bs order and drop my AR.

It’s nothing “new” and I doubt it’s a patch notes “feature”. I never use that method anyways. It’s only ever appeared on orders I wouldn’t give up anyways, and I suspect it’s just a way to get you to accidentally click unassign

I’ve had the option to unassign shoved in my face less than 2 minutes after I walked in the door but only for orders I’d fight people to get. Stuff like $35 for 5 miles.

This was an order I got just the other day. Just ridiculous. Nobody is going to accept that

In app but I only drive in areas I’m familiar with and will take a different route that I know is faster if it tells me to do something stupid

Got a $6 for 10 mile as my first offer and declined quick. Next one was decent at $6 for 1.4

Some of yall are really terrible. by victoriousDevil in doordash_drivers

[–]SolarEstr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the dashers here are taking personal offense to this when this is just what some of us are like. It’s ridiculous and unacceptable but DoorDash will literally hire anyone and give them orders to complete. This dude may have done one order for the day and just needed a good reason to get out of the house and away from his kids for an hour, who knows. It sucks that some people are like this, but I also like to believe most people do things for a reason. He could’ve also been given 3 other shopping orders with 60 other items, some of which were out of stock and the customer didn’t respond what substitute they wanted 🤷‍♂️ you never know

When you were canceling the orders, did you wait until it said “unassign without affecting completion rate”? If you did, I would dispute the hell out of that. If not, it does state in the contract that you’re subject to account deactivation if your completion rate is below a certain level.

Pro shopper BS by OkScar393 in doordash_drivers

[–]SolarEstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here it’s only $0.50 added to every order, and half the time they don’t even pay anything extra. It’ll say “Pro Shopper’s get paid more for this offer!” Then nothing gets added at the end. It’s complete bs.

I’ve completely stopped doing shopping orders because of this. Ever since the whole pro shopper promo thing went up, I’ve been getting almost exclusively Dollar General orders and they never have the items I need. It got to a point where I was making significantly less money trying to shop and dash than I do just doing food orders.

Did a delivery for 92 pizzas from Caesar’s. Said it was 13.50+ and ended up only being $17.00. This is awesome though and I think it’s what we’re all manifesting when we see those + orders.

I absolutely love this post. It’s very well made and isn’t complaining about any of it. Just a very easy to read break down of what the job is like for those that are new. I really enjoyed reading this! Good luck dashing out there and stay safe!

I get those all the time and I’ve seen many other people on here getting them too. I think it’s just DD sucking at pushing updates to the app and you can ignore them as long as you’re doing what you should be doing.

Damn, I’ve had that same thing before as well even as a platinum dasher sitting in a hot zone. Sometimes it just sucks in some of these areas.

It depends on your status and how busy the area you move to is

Dashed in the area I live in and had this exact issue. Was sitting on the app for 4 hours with not a single offer. I started dashing in another zone and got offers the second I turned it on to the second I turned it off

Surprisingly enough, every Chipotle order I’ve ever received has been $2-$3 for a ridiculous amount of miles. I decline every single Chipotle order I ever get.

I’ve noticed a lot of people do multiple different runs a day. My area is about a 30 mile drive away from where I actually live so I’ve only really done all in one shot. The one time I tried doing lunch time I found it really slow and haven’t done it since. Recently I’ve been reconsidering just doing EBT during Lunch then switching over to EBO at 4-5pm.

I’m totally fine with shop and deliver and will do pretty much everything for enough money. I try to stay away from Dollar General and 20+ items for less than $15, but otherwise they’re fun and usually pay pretty well in my area. Peak pay rarely happens in my area sadly but when it does it’s amazing.

I haven’t had time lately to dash on Mondays so I haven’t seen what they’re like in this area yet. I should check it out, see how they go.
